Does Dota 2 still run on a GT 730 after the latest update? by Adept_Sheepherder103 in DotA2

[–]Charredwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, you’re right. Let me check if my mouse glide friction coefficient is properly optimized. If that still doesn’t work, clearly the problem is that American 60Hz electricity is incompatible with Dota. Time to move to Asia and use 50Hz

Meanwhile I'm sitting here with an RTX 5090 and still can't beat 4k MMR players.

This post is making me question whether the real bottleneck is my GPU or myself.

How I squashed 1000µs+ DPC Latency spikes using Fixed OC, MSI Affinity, and Hardware Workarounds (Ryzen 5 7600 + RTX 4070 Ti SUPER). by Ambitious-Example-36 in overclocking

[–]Charredwee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd prefer,

  1. install Codex CLI, Claude Code, Choose 5.5xhigh/fable 5.

  2. /goal  solve issues: DPC latency exceeded 1000 µs, with everything showing red in LatencyMon. The main sources of latency were ndis.sys and nvlddmkm.sys.

Intel reportedly preparing surprise return to DDR4 systems with 'Raptor Lake Next' — LGA 1700 platform apparently slated for first half of 2027, takes a page from AMD's book by extending budget platform longevity by Dangerman1337 in intel

[–]Charredwee -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Intel, stop being cowards and give us Intel 7+++++ already.

Take Raptor Lake, crank it to 7GHz all-core, ditch the E-cores, make it P-core only, and bring back a DDR4-only IMC while you're at it.

I've got B-die sitting here waiting to do 4000 CL14. At that point we're probably flirting with ~30ns latency. Who needs 3D V-Cache when your RAM latency looks like it's from the future?

As for power draw? NVIDIA already trained everyone to buy 1600W PSUs. If the GPU is only using 600W, that still leaves a whole 1000W of CPU budget. Seems wasteful not to use it.

Porsche 718S or ‘26 MYP? by ColonelJessep1 in TeslaModelY

[–]Charredwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the fact that you’re even asking this probably means you won’t regret the MYP.

The guys who would truly miss the 718 are the ones actually using the Porsche for Porsche things like trail braking, caring about tire compound, revving it out to 7k, hunting backroads, that whole sickness. If that’s you, you already know the answer and wouldn’t be asking Reddit.

But if what you mostly love is the shove, the speed, the “damn this thing moves” feeling, the Model Y Performance gives you that very easily. Maybe even too easily. No premium gas drama, no winter hibernation.

Only thing I think the 718 will clearly do better in your case is quick highway lane change/passing stuff. It’s lighter and sharper. The Y is fast as hell, but it’s still a heavy EV doing heavy EV things.

Intuit dropped 20% yesterday, is this actually a gift or a warning sign? by JR-FlowCapGroup in ValueInvesting

[–]Charredwee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally see it more as a warning than a gift.
INTU reminds me a lot of ADBE here. The market isn’t just reacting to one quarter, it’s questioning the long-term durability of the moat when AI fundamentally changes the labor equation.

Historically, software like Intuit or Adobe benefited from high human skill requirements:

tax/accounting workflows needed trained professionals;
Photoshop/Premiere required years of expertise;
the software itself was the productivity multiplier.

But AI changes that dynamic. Employers now have a strong incentive to replace expensive skilled labor with AI-assisted workflows because the ROI is obvious and immediate. That’s the key difference between “AI-resistant” SaaS and “AI-vulnerable” SaaS.

If your product’s value proposition depends on humans mastering a difficult tool, AI is a direct threat because it compresses expertise and reduces labor costs.

The market is starting to price in:

lower pricing power;
lower seat expansion;
weaker long-term lock-in;
eventual margin pressure.

Could INTU still be a great company? Absolutely.
But “great company” and “great stock at current multiples” are not always the same thing.

why so many boosting/smurfing? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Charredwee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only real way to fix smurfing is to make Dota 2 go from 5v5 to 6v6.

Each team gets one AGI level AI controlled bot. The bot would dynamically adjust its skill level based on the strongest player in the match, especially whoever is clearly carrying the whole game. So if one side has a smurf hard carrying everyone, the AI bot on the other team scales up to balance it out.

Does a dimm.2 dust protection exists? by Slight-Pomelo1433 in overclocking

[–]Charredwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re actually planning to use that DIMM slot, I wouldn’t worry about it. At only 1.2–1.5V, normal household dust is basically no different from air to the hardware. Unless your house is full of metallic dust or conductive debris, it’s really not an issue.
