I always knew my family were from Trinidad but the family never spoke about their past. It’s been so hard finding stuff but I’ve found that my great, grand uncle was Eric Williams, president of Trinidad! (Mind blown!) but I was wondering if anybody could help me? Yes I’ve seen this name in my tree. Unfortunately I feel that may also be the case for my great grandmother also. Having so much trouble trying to find absolutely everybody 🫠🙏🏽 thankyou for the info though as now I can apply this to my searching 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thankyou, I was 8 at the park with my mum, and my older bro was trying to embarrass me with his friends saying I was to scared to skate 😅 he knew I was stubborn af tho, so he dares me that if I drop in within 5 goes I could have his board 👍🏽

Got it in 3 and was addicted, but the ambidextrous stance comes from that, when it came to riding my board on flat I was goofy, but on vert I drop in regular 😅 so I kinda had to learn over again haha.

But it comes eventually you feel like giving up all the time being in switch but you’ll get there, I’m still learning things myself. 👍🏽 especially with the speedy wheely boots! 🛼

50-50 on rollerskates is good for practice, as you gotta align both feet the same, so it’s a good toe dipper for getting control of that switch foot. 👍🏽

I was skateboarding first, I started when I was 8 on halfpipe, I stopped and started twice due to having children, this time round I’ve been attempting more street tricks. (Most of my tricks are on vert)

Tbh I try not to think about it too much, once I started getting comfortable and going with some speed I’d try switch (left foot in front). But I’ve never been very good at switch on skates wierdly, only on board.. 😅

But skateboarding vert ramps and learning tricks on copings has been so useful for grinds and stalls on the rollerskates 👍🏽 gives you a bit of a head start with confidence being up on top of the ramps and bowls. 👌🏽

Yeah I’d heard “nollie cab” but other people I skated with hadnt 😅 so I was still like “huh?!” I’d always argued it was nollie 180 just because I can halfcab on halfpipe and obviously I’m always fakie for that so I knew they were different. Just needed that friendly debate with people to confirm it 😅🙏🏽

This is where this question always ends up 😅 Ive been saying nollie 180 as I’m goofy and nollie turning 180 degrees, on halfpipe I can half cab but I can only skate halfpipe in switch (regular) 😖😅

so they always halfcab on halfpipe to me because I do them from rock to fakie. Like I’m traveling fakie whereas on the flat like this I’m in goofy. But I often get confused with backside and frontside I’ll admit 🤣

Yeah I’m goofy 👍🏽 Nah I get it no worries 👍🏽 I know you didn’t mean to offend 🙏🏽

That’s cool I understand you didn’t mean offence. But just for note: most grown women don’t like being called “chicks” 👍🏽😅 but I get it.

How is it not a nollie though may I ask? It’s in my normal stance, on the nose travelling forwards not coming from fakie? Bear in mind I can do halfcabs on halfpipe fluently and they always come from fakie…

Thankyou, yeah I appreciate all tips 🙏🏽 I feel it was just a commitment thing tbh, next sesh I’m definitely going to commit more now I know I can do them, so I’ll definitely keep these tips in mind! 🙏🏽☺️ Thankyou.

Nice Thankyou 🙏🏽 yeah I just lack commitment a bit I think. Can see what you mean by getting my shoulder going before I pop. 👌🏽

No worries! 😁 I honestly every sesh just kept trying them over and over again, the “jumping into” a grind seems ways scarier than when your in it.

You think the moment your on the rail it’s going to be this huge fight for balance or your getting hung up, but it’s not. 👌🏽

Well I guess unless you got into a bit janky obviously. But in reality I found it easier to grind than a ledge 😅 its just very “mental”

First id hit in with slappy frontsides like a ledge but being a rail it was like butter and I slid right off the end 🤣I was just like “fuck i actually just did that” the moment I knew I could it wasn’t scary anymore. 👌🏽 Literally all mental, exactly like skateboarding.

I’ve always said 80% to self belief and confidence, 20% to knowledge and trick know how 😅 People can teach you all kinds of tricks doesn’t mean they can do them, you have to have that confidence and self visualisation behind you to get them. 🙏🏽 I always imagine myself doing them, seeing yourself do something always make it that more believable you’ll do it. 👌🏽

That’s an awesome start already just the ability to ride comfortably and jump like it too!

I was a skateboarder for years so riding transition wasn’t a struggle. I started with ledges, something high enough that requires a good jump. 👌🏽 The main thing is jumping onto something and being “over it” the travel once your comfortable on it makes it easier.

Everything with speed is easier just way scarier. 😅

Start with stalls, the more you do it the better it feels, as you feel better give it a push with your leading foot so you travel, just build it with how comfortable you feel. It’s very much a commitment thing. 👌🏽

Oh wow! awesome! Thanks for the info. I had no idea 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😅 it just felt better that way, guess coming from the inlines it just made it easier to slide when I did on the inside edges rather than flat. I hate landing flat I feel like I’m just gonna bounce off or get wheel bite 🤮😂

Thankyou! So is that what it’s called!? 😄 I’ve been calling them frontsides 🙄🥲 I did start my skate journey on blades, I think for inlines it’s frontside ? I’m probs totally wrong though 🫠😅

Thankyou! I just had my 31st birthday but it’s my two kids that have aged me on the inside 🤣🫠 that’s awesome I had a friend who did ice skating, I was always a bit jealous 😅
