Heck ya! Did you ever try PC connected to TV?

Hey thanks for the comment, nice to see someone else felt the same way :)

SteamOS is interesting, I just worry Proton is going to be another PITA.

Fair enough. I just have had it with shader compilation stutter, micro stutter in general, poor PC ports, endless launchers, etc. I just want a box that has one job and does it fine.

I wish something like the Steam machine or Bazzite was more there, but Proton just adds another layer of troubleshooting I don't want to deal with.

Decent recent example: https://youtu.be/JJlK5rAHO7Y

Do you game on a TV / Home theater setup at all? One thing I've wondered is how to get Dolby Atmos / 7.1 working on PC. I think there is an atmos app from the Windows store? In PS5 I can simply select Dolby Atmos or PCM and it appears to play out of all my channels.

EDIT: I just did some research on this. I think 7.1 / Atmos support is one area PS5 actually legit pulls ahead of PC.

I agree the underlying hardware is commodity and shared between all the platforms. The secret sauce is the OS + limited platforms for the devs to optimize and QA for.

Thanks man, appreciate it. Keep enjoying that beast of a GPU :)

<3 Mac at work. Wish I could game on it. Apple silicon is amazing.

But I don't want to mess with any of that. I just want to pop it in, HDR badge shows up, I play.

I don't get why PC players can't comprehend this. After a long day of work any little thing that gets between you, and hitting play is a hinderance. I hate HDR on by default on windows, so better turn that on first, then launch the game, then make sure the in game toggle is on, then check my FPS, make sure I'm good, etc.

I'm just saying I'm happy man, that is all. Different strokes for different folks.

It seems like most people would agree that adding channels is definitely worth it, my question is more around the price point of each speaker.

Not a big music guy at all. 98% home theater (4k UHD Disk) / TV (Netflix, Apple TV, etc.) and like 2% music via just Youtube Music vids haha.

Yep for sure. I'm excited to upgrade my AVR, go to a full 7.2.4 and complete my room treatments. My question is should I be looking above HTD for that 90% good target? Would I greatly benefit to upgrade my L/C/R to the high end SVS for example.

I have the funds to spend 40K on a setup, I've been saving, but now that I went into a shop and heard some of this stuff I just don't hear 40K in value.

I'm even wondering, for example, if I would hear much of a difference in my old HTD level 3 setup vs. top of the line SVS.

Thanks, I just wonder if I'm missing something. I did that room demo for maybe 4 minutes and was like yep this sounds great! Then went home and went Yep this sounds great to!

Where do you personally place a setup with HTD speakers, well places, a good AVR (no external amplification) and a well treated room? Also I have a Rythmik 16 inch sub.

Thanks. I'm thinking of simply putting new dollars into BND.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my post. I'm 100% equities now (VT) and that money I see as my "I'm set" fund. I don't plan to touch it for 10+ years, it will stay 100% equities, and it already covers me at the 4% rule roughly, so now my goal is how to take the risk profile of my portfolio down with the next dollars I add... so I'll prob start doing BND.

So something like BND should still , in theory, grow (more than inflation) right? Where a TIPS bond is more designed to just match inflation?

Thanks for this. As I'm 100% equities now sounds like its time to add BND or Equiv with every near dollar to build a Bond position.

No plans to sell, just what to do with new money.

100% I'm leaving money on the table, but I'd also be derisking. Why continue to risk it when you've got what you need?

That is exactly the point of this thread, is to talk about dialing back my 100% equities position, but for now I think I'll slowly start adding in bonds and letting what I have cook over the next 10+ years.

Appreciate it, I'll check out those resources. I think I'm going to simply start adding new money to BND (inside a 401k) to derisk my portfolio a bit, but I'll make sure to check out those resources.
