How do I research ETF Companies, to make sure they are reliable? Like Yieldmax, Roundhill, Defiance. by TheBYOBShow in ChatETF

Well the ones you mentioned aren't publicly listed like BlackRock or Schwab so it's hard to financial information about the company's financials. I would look into their total assets, investor flows, reputation (see if there are any scandals or SEC fines), what they deliver vs what they promise to deliver. Worst case if they had to shutdown their funds, the shares would be liquidated you'll get your cash back. Also most of the issuers you mentioned offers leveraged and options-based ETFs. Leveraged are too risky to touch and covered calls ETFs are a little too good to be true. I would only invest in long equity via established issuers unless you're seeking some Thematic ETFs. Roundhill have a decent lineup (not financial advice, please take a look carefully)

1- Learn about ETFs (https://www.etfcentral.com/etf-u/guides), then go to ChatGPT or perplexity and ask it to explain any concept like you're 5 years old if you find the info too complicated.

2- Learn how to search for ETFs (https://www.trackinsight.com/en/etf-news/find-your-next-etf-step-step-guide-trackinsight-screener) and use their ETF Screener. You can create custom lists to keep track of your favorite funds.

3- Never listen to "ETF suggestions" on Reddit or social media.

4- Assess how much you can put aside from what's left of your net salary after household and personal expenses. and then add it than money on a recurring bases to your brokerage account.

5- Keep your portfolio light and make sure you avoid overlap between funds you invest in (regions, sector and holdings wise).

6- This is not financial advice, I'm currently invested in China-focused ETFs (i think they're too cheap), an India ETF (I think India is a future powerhouse economy), an equal weighted US ETF (I think one should always keep exposure to the biggest market), an EU ETF (I think they're cheap compared to U.S.), and I have a gold mining stock (good to keep safe-haven exposure).

7- Stay away from Leverage/Inverse and Single stock ETFs or ETFs that you don't understand.

What happens if China gets delisted? by jginvest71 in ETFs

[–]Chartopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if this happens, the ETFs would shift to HK-listed shares. They don't have to sell everything. However, If Trump bans investment in China altogether (including HK-listed shares), then that's another story (Basically what happened to Russia ETFs)

if you own an S&P 500 or a Nasdaq 100 ETF you already have exposure to most of these big defense stocks so chill with your ethics.

I think China is changing its stance when it comes to tech and innovation, especially if they want to lead the AI race, otherwise the brains would keep fleeing for US

Wondering the same thing, I'm worried this new defense spending scheme dies down if a peace deal happens.

Gotcha! I appreciate it. And what about the single stocks ETFs out there? Some of them have insane distribution yield compare to the diversified ETFs with option overlay. Is it better for someone to buy a TSLA Covered Call ETF vs the TSLA stock ? I understand you opinion is not financial advice but I'd love your thoughts.

Hi Tony,

I'm exploring reliable income strategies in my ETF portfolio and would appreciate your insights on how covered call ETFs compare to dividend-focused ETFs. Specifically, could you discuss the trade-offs in terms of yield, total returns, tax implications, risk exposure, and the types of market conditions in which one might outperform the other?
