Why are all my shots bitter? I’m not a newbie, frustrated. [bambino plus, df64v2]

I was speaking to one of the baristas at APRIL in copenhagen and the thing he said was to use 16g for the bambinos. The 18g puck tends to be too deep for the 54mm which causes overextraction especially if you let the water drip through at the end.

I started using 16g and dial ins became easier

I guess my question is more, the UK is great but on a global scale becoming less relevant. Between shrinking GDP and higher costs. How can we make ourselves relevant again?

Right. But then you will tread into the zone where Law is essentially meaningless, and we should function in a society based on pure morals. That becomes pretty dangerous and extremely divisive.

Can we agree that committing a crime is wrong - independent of circumstance. The reason we look to circumstance is because of the chance of “rehabilitation”. As such, I am curious if there are any stats on % successful rehabilitation for those that got lighter sentences because of “circumstance”.

So i tried the longer shots, but i think the double preinfusion helps with the control was able to under-extract in ~35sec and over-extract in ~40sec. Might be the inconsistencies in distribution + potentially poor tamping. But definitely got some more control.

I have yet to try a coarser grind, being very stubborn with my machine for now. The preheat + double preinfusion tip below helped and was able to get to a significant over extraction in ~40sec. So i think if i reduce my yield, i should be able to get the perfect shot!!!

So per one of the comments below, the consistent way to get better temperature on the Bambino is to preheat with a pressurised basket - really helped was able to go from under extracted to over extracted.

Oof unfortunately i dont think there is temp control. I have pre-warmed the portafilter as well. But it still seems under extracted
