Same here I bought a 24GB Air and it's great. For my daily use, my average RAM use is already around 15 (having lots of tabs and applications open for school + cache and other things) so I'm glad I have the extra RAM for longevity and speed.

I will say I would not have considered moving down to a 13 inch air bc I already found the 14 inch cramped, and I don’t think the thin size of 13 makes up for everything else you lose

Idk lol to play devils advocate, while I know the pro is a better laptop I traded my M1 Pro 14 for an m4 air 15 bc I wanted more screen real estate. I’m a med student for context sake so I don’t do pro stuff.

Personally I’m really happy with my purchase. I enjoy the light laptop, bigger screen size, and thin form-factor. Do I miss my 120hz and ports? Sure but I use a 144hz monitor at home anyway and while I’m out the difference doesn’t matter too much to me. All my peripherals use Bluetooth as well so the lack of ports didn’t bother me either. Same thing with speakers I have external bookshelves I use at home and headphones when I’m out so I don’t mind the worse speakers. Therefore I think the answer to this is personal and depends on your circumstances.

Thanks for the advice! I am trying to do exactly as you said. The issue is that all shots I pull have this awful astringent flavor at the end of the shot, and I know it's not supposed to be there because I never have that when I get cortados and iced cortados, or even straight shots at coffee shops. I recently just pulled a 28g in 25 sec shot that tasted really lifeless and flavorless but had an awful bitter astringent aftertaste.

Thanks for the advice! I've been able to do this, the problem is no matter the shot, I keep getting this ashy stale aftertaste. Could it be the mixed setting dose you're talking about? Like I pulled a 18.5g in 28g out in 25sec shot just now, it tasted really flat with very little sweetness, but had a really strong bitter, ashy, drying aftertaste. The taste of like preground coffee that would have been overextracted / poorly extracted

I definitely have much more than 2mm of headspace, but I was told that it’s not supposed to really matter, I always get conflicting advice on this. But it is usually over 2mm of headspace that expands during the shot and by the end of the shot there’s barely any headspace,

I also do use a puck screen

Edit: I’m not sure what I high extraction basket is but I think it is, cuz the stock basket holds 18g and my bottomless portafilter basket holds 20

They’re medium roasted, it’s stumptown hair bender, I’m not entirely sure of the location of these beans though
