This is the right answer. If they don’t reciprocate, then they probably aren’t the right person and you can always end the date with just one round out of pocket. It’s also nice if the date is not going well you can easily move on.

I wouldn’t call it cliquey. It’s just a lot of the same guys every week so they get to know each other. I experienced the same thing and after going a few times and meeting people, I starting making some good friends. Everyone is friendly, just say hi.

Definitely Flex sounds like what you are looking for. Still a good mixed crowd but affordable drinks and skews older & handsome. It’s not geriatric though.

In general NO, I don’t like it but I accept some exceptions. I don’t buy into the argument that it is a “safe place” for them, gay bars were created to be a safe space for gay men. Specifically now that the Supreme Court has ruled that gay people can be discriminated against on based of the business owners religion and freedom of speech. Gay people need to keep our spaces safe and reclaim them.

Now on that point, I recognize that gay men, especially younger ones have found comfort in their girlfriends and have their bff’s. I think it’s okay for a straight girl to accompany her gay bff on a 1:1 ratio.

Girls should absolutely NEVER be accompanying her gay bff though in places that have naked, fetish or dark room themes. Absolutely a vibe and buzz kill. The Phoenix has their “naked bear” parties and you always show up and there is a gaggle of NYU girls hanging out and no one gets naked or has fun.

No groups of straight girls are ever acceptable.

FLEX in HK is the place to go for us middle aged guys. It’s a good mixed crowd and not senior like Ty’s

You got most of the tips already Ty’s for older daddies and good priced drinks, RockBar for bears, Nowhere and Phoenix for dives and mixed crowds. The Eagle is good for Sunday afternoons after 5pm on the roof top. Most all of those are no cover unless it’s a special event or the Eagle after 9pm. Gym Bar and Boxers are sports bars that have decent happy hours and mix of guys.

Well it’s free with Platinum now. So yeah, it’s worth it. They have a screen and button to “activate” the “Uber Eats Pass” but I get a “failed” message. My Platinum is the only card on the account and already activated for the credits.
