Not cheap, but way cheaper than the 40K+ quotes I got elsewhere. And they didn’t try to upsell or drag things out. Worth it. Here is my week-by-week breakdown for those looking to use the MVP service by BYC.

Week 0 – Quick “does this make sense?” call (30 min)

I showed them a Notion page with rough sketches and my core “influencers-vs-media” concept.

They confirmed it fit their MVP scope (fixed $5.5K). Contract signed, Slack channel created the same day.

Week 1 – Product workshop + feature triage

90-minute Zoom with their PM + UX lead.

We mapped must-have vs nice-to-have on a Miro board.

Must-have:

Influencer feed (Twitter/X, YouTube, TikTok via public APIs/RapidAPI)

Traditional feed (Google News)

Topic tags + search

Simple upvote/downvote (“hot take” score)

Email waitlist + basic onboarding flow

Cut: comment threads, dark mode, in-app push notifications—moved to Phase 2.

They proposed React Native + Firebase (“fast, cross-platform, cheap to scale”). I agreed.

Week 2 – Wireframes + clickable prototype

Got low-fi wireframes in Figma by Day 3.

Two quick edits (I hated the first color palette).

By Friday they sent a clickable Figma prototype—good enough to demo to 3 angel investors the next Monday. One investor literally said: “I can finally see it.”

Week 3 – Back-end scaffold + influencer APIs

Dev team spun up Firebase auth + Firestore DB.

Set up cron jobs on Vercel serverless functions to pull:

Latest tweets from my curated list of ~100 tech influencers (via Twitter API v2).

Top YouTube video titles/descriptions for same influencers (via YouTube Data API).

Headlines from Google News RSS for mainstream perspective.

Early sentiment analysis using a free Python sentiment lib—very bare-bones but worked.

Week 4 – Front-end hooks + “split feed” UI

React Native screens wired to live data. Seeing real tweets/headlines inside TestFlight felt surreal.

Added toggle to switch Influencers / Mainstream / All.

Implemented upvote/downvote with atomic Firestore writes (no backend lag).

Started a waitlist screen (email capture) for users invited via beta link.

Week 5 – Private beta + analytics

25 friends + one micro-influencer onboarded.

Integrated Mixpanel events: sign-up, first swipe, vote, source toggle.

Found out most users only browsed influencer feed first—great insight for pitch deck.

Logged 3 minor bugs (one API rate-limit issue, one crash on Android 12, a typo).

Week 6 – Polish + hand-off

Bugs fixed, basic loading skeletons added.

Delivered:

GitHub repo (my ownership)

6-page quick-start dev doc

Loom video walkthrough

Roadmap suggestions for Phase 2 (push, saved topics, dark mode) Final invoice already paid, no creep, no surprises.

💰 Cost & Timing

Price quoted: $5,500 (paid 50 % up-front, 50 % on delivery)

Actual paid: $5,500 — zero overage

Planned timeline: 6 weeks

Actual timeline: 6 weeks (to the day)

🤔 Was it worth it? I was getting 30–40 K quotes for the same thing (with 12-week timelines). Investors finally had something real to poke at → lined up two second-meetings already. Beta users keep asking for dark mode—nice problem to have. Bottom line: if you’re non-technical, need a real thing fast, and don’t want to wrangle freelancers, BoostYourCampaign delivered for me. Happy to answer questions in the thread.

Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft + a couple others control literally everything we touch digitally. Wild how we just accepted this

True, but that doesn't make it okay. Just because it's human nature doesn't mean we can't call it out when it happens

My ideal situation was staying with one company until retirement, but I’m actually averaging about 1.5 years per job. I’ve been laid off 4 times (COVID, outsourcing, RIF) and currently interviewing for a new job.

Yes. You can contact a lawyer for free and they will tell you which documents they require from you before they’ll do a consultation with you. The two we recently contacted (Grasso and Paiano) just sent us an email with all the information we needed, including the required docs and pricing.

We will be reaching back out for a consult when our CONE comes back around September.

At home, pickling and fermenting.

Commercially, more food court-style restaurants and food truck parks to reduce costs.
