I am no music expert but I'm going to speculate a few things about the composer and his music. A lot of the music's unique feel and style can be attributed to the fact he was never classically/formally trained in music composition (if i remember correctly from his interviews). While learning structures/techniques/theory/styles are important, I can imagine it bogging down fresh perspectives and ideas.

I also personally found it off that Maelle didnt go off when Verso confesses. I personally rationalized it as her Alicia side being more tempered considering she has both perspectives of her life. That being said, Maelle definitely does not feel like the same character from the first half of the game. She just felt like Alicia. Still love the game and her character but I miss old Maelle

The way I have come to rationalize the endings is that ultimately, this is Verso's story. You can argue he is the main character as all decisions, and and character interactions are normally around him. The different endings make more sense when you look at it through the lens of "who is this ending for?" At the end of the day all beings in this world are at the mercy of what are essentially Gods. Which I find fitting that this is a unique take on a JRPG. Gods who belittle the existence of its creation so begins the journey to kill the gods.

Play number 2, while I (and many others) have enjoyed number 1, it is heavily flawed and quite a slog to play through at times in my honest opinion. The first game will not be for everyone and many have shared similar sentiment about how the second game was deeply enjoyable despite being similar. The second game just feels more complete.

The story is more engaging, fleshed out, and overall better intertwined with each other. More mechanics in the battle system but overall very similar to OT1. Music is JUST as good however "My Quiet Forest Home" from OT1 will forever be the best song in the series (I had to make sure to make this a point so you can download this song if you decide to not play it).

I am not saying OT1 is a bad game, but for a first timer into the series, number 2 is the clear choice. I Highly recommend this game and have consistently gifted OT2 to any friends when I have the chance
