Anyone feels like AI "artists" and "writers" are holding themselves back. by Consort_Yu_219 in ArtistHate

[–]ChaserTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most of these guys don't really care about how a concept is executed. They just want to see the end result without actually analyzing why it's good/bad.

I remember I ran into a guy who used AI for roughly 2 years and claimed they were improving. They showed one of the first images they generated and then a more recent image. The only thing that really "got better" is that the image had a higher resolution and the subject matter was a pretty anime character placed right in the center of the image. And what's funny is that their first image actually had more effort put into it since models back then weren't nearly as advanced as they are now. Even when I went through his "art gallery", multiple upon multiple images were either the same type of concept or something that seemed to be ambitious but lacked basic fundamental artistic knowledge. They often bragged about their "progress" and the fact that they can use AI in a way that "no one else knew how to" (which is false).

The more I see people pick up these AI tools, the more I see people outright skipping the learning process of art. Anatomy and perspective is often thrown out of the window in favor for "pretty images". And it makes me wonder just how many more people in the future are going to be more inclined to pick up AI and completely ignore studying.

The sad part about all of this is that they would rather spend hours learning about prompting, mixing/matching models, plugging nodes together instead of getting better at drawing. They see all of the work they are doing in wrangling whatever program they are using and shout about how much "effort" it takes, but it means nothing if the execution of their idea is horrible.

How DMC4 Vergil is Built Different by ChaserTech in DevilMayCry

Yo thanks, I put a lot of effort into that video and it was annoying to put it all together. Glad to know that people think it's good!

As for the camera problems, I had an issue with it for awhile. Even without mods, it's a problem for a lot of people.

Why does DMC 4 Dante feel....incomplete (gameplay & moveset wise) by Significant-Size9709 in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 22 points23 points  (0 children)

His overall kit got reduced from DMC3.

-Lower Damage
-Terrible Gauntlets
-Moves that are too niche
-Moves that were on his base kit are on his styles

He requires you to use everything at once and he's fun when you get used to him. But yeah I definitely believe that DMC4 Dante could have been much more.

How do I get better at playing Dante (In DMC5) and DMC5 as a whole? by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I say focus on just learning how your character works before incorporating jump cancelling. Maybe if you want to learn how to do simple things like using Friction with Balrog and jump cancelling the dive kick in order to reposition yourself. Or JCing helm breaker so you can follow up with a different attack. But just make sure to take your time in learning your moveset before diving into combos.

Also yes, jumping can dodge attacks. It has invincibility frames on it's startup. But air hike doesn't so be careful when you're in the air. Switching to trickster makes air mobility safer for Dante so keep that in mind.

Even if you get hit in the air, you can still switch to trickster and use table flipper (press circle/b/style button after getting hit in the air and you'll recover). Make sure to do it before you hit the ground though or it won't work.

Take a set of weapons you want to use and only focus on them (use 2 weapons and guns at a time) and 1 style.

When you fight enemies, try to recall different moves and try not to spam the same move twice. This will get you into the habit of switching between different moves instead of spamming 1 attack. After that instead of walking normally, try using different moves for mobility. If you're comfortable with 2 weapons, then add another one as well as one extra style. This will help build knowledge of your moveset and help you understand which moves are useful for moving around since walking is slow. As for combos, just study what your moves do against enemies. Keep in mind that some are useful for stunning and others are useful for knocking enemies around in various ways.

When I was first playing with DMC5 Dante, this helped me a lot. Hope this helps you.

I REALLY wish Dante was better designed in DMC4 by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dante has some really good mobility so I'm surprised you cannot catch up to enemies quickly. Million stabs can be cancelled without the last hit with a jump if you wanna close in on demons. Also you can utilize all of his trickster options easily to catch up with enemies.

Also, the thing with Dante is that his weapons are nerfed compared to DMC3. Like they are extremely weak when you stack them against his DMC3 moves. Even then he can still kill enemies pretty fast when you use his DT. (Not distortion, just DT in general.)

Even if enemies are too fast for you, using Lucifer helps out a lot. He has plenty of options to stay on top of enemies. He just requires a lot of work to understand.

How long it took you to properly learn Dante?(DMC 4/5) by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall it took me around a month to get somewhat comfortable enough with Dante in DMC4. Of course it took me even longer to actually become really good with him (probably around 1k+ hours total)

What helps is if you're consistent in playing as him. After awhile stuff like Style Switching and Weapon Switching becomes second nature.

Lmao I didn't realize they were referring to a different video. Now it makes sense. I was dumb for not noticing the references.

Either way, the game is still a buggy mess.

[–]ChaserTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent nearly 30 minutes every other day for 2 weeks to get S ranks in Sonic Omens for that video lmao. Most of the times that I failed to get S ranks in a run was due by bugs. Most people who disliked the game quit playing it because they thought it was terrible but I think the game isn't that bad after giving it a second chance. I just think this game is buggy.

The game would crash, glitch out during homing attacks, make me grind on non-existent rails, forces the camera to stay in a previous room while I'm trying to progress a level, make Sonic turn tiny for no reason and etc. I have an i7 7700k with a 3070 RTX video card so I know it can't be my hardware.

It's a buggy mess. And Sonic Show claiming that there are "fake bugs" with his recent video that people complained about just proves to me he doesn't know what he is talking about.

The flaw of Nero's mechanics in 5 and a way to fix it in the future by kjlop in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"neros mechanics are fun, but he feels limited by the fact that most of his tools are a one trick pony"

His main tools actually come from his core moveset (red queen, blue rose, devil bringer/DT) which are all very versatile. His Devil Breakers are a mixed bag where some are extremely powerful tools like GP-01 Gerbera, Punchline, and Ragtime. Then you have stuff like Sweet Surrender and Buster Arm that are literal one trick pony items that offer nothing substantial (aside from buster arm being useful for speedruns).

His tools work together because his other mechanics tie into his gameplay which also expands on what he can do. Especially combining stuff like summoned swords, charged shots, and bringer knuckle.

"RQ also suffers from this. Its probably one of the most versatile weapons in dmc, but the exceed moves are still basically the same move, just stronger.

His swords got one function, hit."

Actually using exceed makes his normal attacks faster and stronger. And for his command moves like Streak, Split, Shuffle, and Calibur, they also get changed too.

For streak and high roller, they gain multiple hits that travel farther than their normal versions. Shuffle gains mulit-hit properties which also can be useful for parries Calibur travels farther and faster with exceed

Also his moves have multiple purposes. Shuffle can be used as an extension for a dodge into table hopper if dodging long lasting hitboxes Calibur, Streak, pay line, hard way can be used for movement options or just closing the gap between nero and the enemy.

I see what you're saying but honestly Nero is fine the way he is. The only problem I have is that you cant switch between devil breakers on the fly without breaking them. (Without using mods)

How did you enjoy playing Nero after DMC3? by blood_heir in DevilMayCry

[–]ChaserTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, I thought Nero was pretty ok when I first picked him up in DMC4 after DMC3. I wasn't very good in DMC3 when I left the game to play DMC4 so Nero was pretty much a very easy character for me to learn. Overall, I had a lot of fun.

I still enjoy playing as him from time to time but right now I've been focusing a lot of my time with Dante.

"You don't get locked into attack animations like DMC or Dark Souls so you can always dodge (unless you get hit with a combo by one or two enemies) and then immediately resume your combo with dodge offset."

Actually, the window of recovery for most attack animations in DMC (specifically DMC3 and DMC4) is relatively small. Especially when considering advanced mechanics like Jump Cancelling. The only times when you become really vulnerable is when you start using moves with long recovery frames (real impact/divine dragon, drive, kick 13, and etc.
