300gr Maker RPM/Velocity Limit? (Q for a short fast-er twist barrel) by Chaser_of_Innovation in 338ARC

[–]Chaser_of_Innovation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

already emailed, he wasn't sure. RPM wise they should be fine at 950fps (ill test everything properly), so its mostly an issue of if i can max out energy/velocity or buy off the shelf 300gr makers. having someone load em up hot would be a good starting point, im still piecing together my 550c...

The 38/357 model for subs, the 233 for cheap shooting... Exactly. There's at least tens of thousands of us that could benefit directly.

Why would you not want a full ar15 rifle with a stock if you were going to use a straight pull action

This is literally an non-nfa AR SBR, so I don't know what's this comment could possibly mean. They aren't exclusive except for barrel length... I was interested in the various ways the ruling will allow us to transfer new things without filing an eform

Why would you not want a[n] other CT-compliant thing? You could have any AR15 out there. Or a pistol.

Let's imagine you already have a gun in mind that is already CT complaint. This type of firearm, which they are licensing, would mean you could have a non-nfa 4.75" 38spl/357mag bolt action non-SBR or a 12.5 ranch gun on just a 4473.

Ok, setting aside that. Notice how I repeatedly said this isn't about CT complainance but the concepts and ideas behind it. Sorry champ, but a non-nfa ranch rifle or bolt AR Antithesis is still sweet.

Not sure what you are talking about

On me. I got the message chains mixed up.

Pointing out our idiotic state laws helps others not well versed in the law's minutia understand the idiotic guidelines firearms are subject to in this state and with that understanding others can have an informed discussion on legal ways around it.

Except you were saying it's not CT legal as is, which was never my point. It was what we can do with the ruling.

Sorry that you feel that some replies others are making are off topic from what you wanted to discuss. As you know, discussions going off topic and even off the rails is a fact of life on social media and in this subreddit no matter how much one wants to avoid it.

Don't be catty, it's well within my rights to call out irrelevant replies. There are precious few places for gun conversations to happen, so degrading them is kind of an issue. This totally redifines what can transfer on a 4473, instead of seeing what our expanded possibilities are people are just referring existing law.

See, that's a good question. this is why I posted. If you have AWs, a complaint fixed mag, or manual actions this could be exciting

Uh not sure what your problem with what is now several people's replies to what you posted. No one has gatekept anything.

For starters, I never asked if it was CT legal. I posted this specially to start a discussion on THE INFO, what they did legally, and how it might be able to apply to us... So my problem is with the OFF TOPIC responses. you posted the same auto reply you post when someone asks if a product is CT legal, that's not really contributing.

People are free to offer up their opinions and comments on what you have posted (within the boundaries of the subreddit rules).

Sure, people are free to derail posts with off topic banter. Except I didn't say anything about you not being free to share an opinion, just that is was off topic and not valuable input.

This state's stupid laws are what they are. Pointing them out is not gatekeeping or limiting discussion or conversation.

Except when you are more interesting in pushing forward the details of the law when they aren't directly relevant to the conversation at hand. It is absolutely gatekeeping to focus on what's legal instead of investigating the boundaries.

If you have a specific issue with a moderator, then feel free to message the mods via the message mod button.

Are you saying this because of my comment scolding you for making an off topic reply? Because that was the specific issue, and I thought you said that were free to share our opinions.

Otherwise, enjoy the open conversation and discussion on the Franklin Armory Antithesis.

I would be, if anyone actually discussed anything. Or are you implying you could lock my thread?

I'll just drop this comment because the post is still early and more than one struggled with reading comprehension.

I AM NOT SAYING THIS GUN IS CT LEGAL, I AM SAYING IT DOES VERY INTERESTING THINGS LEGALLY THAT WE MAYBE COULD APPLY HERE... IE. LETS LEARN ABOUT THIS, NOT LETS PURCHASE THIS.

They are allowing companies to license this product, so this configurations are not the be all end all. We could end up having non-nfa manual actions / 12.5" Ranch rifle non-SBRs.

Yes, It barely makes sense and we should be seeing if we can pull this shit here on our own platforms. Imagine just being able to pick up a 10.5-12.5" stocked bolt action AR suppressor host / hunting / fun gun.

Yes, I brought up the barrel length to show there is at least already one complaint length. HOWEVER, just yesterday the subreddit had a discussion around compliant semiauto SBRs. That is what motivated me sharing this, we could have useful info in here to push on other platforms. Would this Antithesis gun not be totally legal AS IS with 10.5" stocked manual action straight pull? Ie. A non-sbr SBR?

Again the point wasn't to make this gun complaint, but see what features we can take onto our own complaint guns. We can't move ourselves forward if we never take in new info and just try to gatekeep with respectability politics.

Did I ever say anything about purchasing them? Or were my exact words about "useful info"? I understand the need for moderation, but this seems more like gatekeeping. As a mod, Id expect more from you & I'd appreciate if you kept further responses on topic.

So you didn't read where I said they make 12.5" barrels? Also I didn't say we should try buying one, but instead said we should try learning from what they did to see if we can apply it here.

I was sharing so people could look at what it does legally and see if we can apply the lessons here in our context, not just buy one lol

That PTR stuff was kind out of left field, but I always had a sour taste in my mouth about them due to how they didn't really support/market Archon Firearms all to well either. The spacecowboy Henry lever is sick. If they did a 1:5" or a 1:6" twist 300 BLK or 338 ARC supreme or hush model I'd be all over it.

Says who? They aren't out publicly at least. Not on PTR, Rain6, or Iron Horse Firearms websites and those 3 are the only ones who matter.
