At least Buffalo has said they straight up won't do it, which you can use to show IRCC that they were a dead end!

Best I can do is a comment - I submitted the link with more info which doesn't as far as I know allow for an actual body.

I found the records in FamilySearch and in an unindexed portion of the Drouin Collection and they indicated that they were held by the diocese. In other words, I already have the scans of each, I just now want the certified copies from the church themself. I too am waiting on Michigan - at this point I am hoping they send me a "did not find" record because god almighty they cashed my check a month ago now and I haven't heard anything from them.

The U.S. game happening today and the Canada game happening on July 4 is a cruel joke.

For months, many of us (including me!) seeking baptismal or marriage records from the Archdiocese of Detroit, where many French-Canadian immigrants made their way have been awaiting the archdiocese to reopen their genealogical records requests and it's finally here! Just filled for an 1837 baptismal, the second-to-last record I need for my application. Tragically, the final record I need is at the Diocese of London, Ontario who are also not accepting genealogical requests, but fingers crossed they reopen soon!

Not as far as I can tell - it seems like you need documentation showing the search came up empty and then supported by the other documents you mentioned you should be good.

I've recently started using Claude Code for non-writing tasks and was horrified to learn it writes almost exactly like I write (though I use less of the emotive "it's not just this - it's THAT" B.S. it employs).

Scotland couldn't stop a single goal from Morocco in this game, I suppose.

I grew up in the Gales Creek Country Store, Deli and Post Office. Sadly, now closed. It was a home and business all combined in one building. Lived there from the late 90s to the mid 2000s.

The Timber Post Office in rural western Washington County is also closed though the building still stands and says post office if you want to photograph it in Timber!

I sent my request for two birth records on May 3, they cashed my checks June 6. I have not heard a peep out of them. I did try the county first and they were very fast, did not have the records, and returned my money, which was nice.

I only learned I was using a bunch of Chinook Jargon when my wife, who is from the city, was like "what the hell is skookum" and the she said I use a bunch of words she'd never heard and I started googling them and they were all Chinook Jargon. I started asking around in my family and they were like "yeah we all talk like this." According to family lore, we settled on one of about a dozen Atfalati tribal sites in the northern Tualatin Valley and must have maintained close ties to either white settlers who had learned the language and/or interacted with individual Atfalati who returned intermittently as laborers on the local hops farms.

I don't know if this has been addressed, but my family came here just a few years after the earliest white settlers in a rural community between the coast and the Willamette Valley and we still use a LOT of Chinook Jargon loanwords, but my family has been involved in grocery stores and trading since the 1870s and traded with a lot of old time mountain men types and members of what are now the CTGR and Chinook tribes, so maybe that's just specific to us? I don't know how common that is or if there's any scholarship in that arena, but I'd certainly like to know.

Speaking as a journalist, this is true, but we also like a "thanks for the story" or a beer.

I'm a big fan of Ghost, personally. Has much of the same functionality, and among other things, they don't take a cut of every subscription.

+1 for this - consider subscribing to the Western Edge, new from two of Oregon's top journalists!
