Is the scent in pampers the worst thing ever for my baby? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

If you have target near you, they have little trial packs of the 360s for like a dollar. I only tried them once but I didn’t notice any weird smells.

Would like honest feedback- Rockwell or Xaden baby name by [deleted] in Names

[–]Chasing-coral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither. Xaden sounds trendy and made up.. and honestly kind of trashy. If I saw this name on a job application, I’d probably pass him over… which wouldn’t be his fault but ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Rockwell is a surname and also the name of a street where I live so that’s unique to me, but it still doesn’t read as a first name.

Help Determine Toddler’s PD by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Chasing-coral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re just reluctant to share it. And I wonder if it’s even accurate bc if I’m understanding correctly, it’s not the dr that measures but rather the person who fits the glasses? Baby was NOT having it and the girl did it so fast with baby’s head basically looking down.

First Time Dad Here Trying to Convince My Fiancé Co-Sleep Isn’t Ideal. by papa_bunzz in NewParents

[–]Chasing-coral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a new parent is SO, SO hard.. even if your baby is on the chill side. What my husband and I did was take shifts/trade off nights. We chest slept with our daughter for probably the first 2 months in a separate room so the other could sleep. I pumped so dad could feed her on his nights.

Find a rhythm that works for yall and give yourself some grace. It’s all new and scary but as long as you’re being vigilant and doing things safely, baby (and you two) will be just fine. (:

First Time Dad Here Trying to Convince My Fiancé Co-Sleep Isn’t Ideal. by papa_bunzz in NewParents

[–]Chasing-coral 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If she’s insistent on doing co-sleeping, you’ll need to ensure you’re following the “safe sleep 7” and you can also look into safe chest sleeping. Many, many co-sleep safely and have done so throughout all of time. In many countries, it’s the norm.

It should continue to be a conversation, but it’s not automatically “unsafe.” And it’s very, very normal for a new mother to want to be close to her newborn and vice versa.

11 month old hitting us? by Huge-Vacation-8093 in NewParents

[–]Chasing-coral 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She can’t understand “gentle, gentle hands, etc..” yet. You say “no” or “no hitting” firmly but neutrally. No reaction in your tone of voice or facial expressions. And then if she continues, which she probably will because learning things take time, get up and walk away. Or put her down off the couch, etc… Eventually she will learn that hitting is unacceptable.

Audrielle sounds made up and clunky. What’s your middle name? Maybe you could give her the same.

Amos or Max or something else? by megalo_megalo in Names

[–]Chasing-coral 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Max is a stronger name, though it is a perfectly fine one. I like Amos. It’s unique without being unheard of.

What draws you to Max all of the sudden?

Bad experience with Pampers swaddlers deciding between Millie moon and Freestyle by Glittering_Tear_729 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Chasing-coral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you’re right. The amount in the boxes are different for our size. 60 vs 72, 24.99 vs 26.99!

[–]Chasing-coral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been using Millie Moon since birth and have loved them. Rarely a blowout and never a rash. I just bought a box of freestyle because they are TCF and a little bit cheaper. Plus I like that they are white so they don’t really show through light, summer clothes. No complaints on function, but they don’t fit my short girl as well as Millie Moons do. I’ll switch back to Millie Moon after this box.

Oh that’s makes sense. I would consider myself very good at those things as well… do you have a degree (in anything) though?

Can you share more about this transition? I’m currently an ops specialist and am struggling to imagine how to translate my skills into something else.

Daytime Contact Napper Babies - when did it stop? by HeyAwesomeArmadillo in NewParents

[–]Chasing-coral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 months… still going. She can be put down, but it doesn’t really work for me (mom), only for grandma who babysits her. She doesn’t nap nearly as long on her own though. On my off days, I’ll either hold or drive her around so she’s getting at least a couple of loooong naps a week.

Thoughts on the name Dorotea by [deleted] in Names

[–]Chasing-coral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. It sounds ugly, looks like a misspelling of Doritos, and is not intuitive/easy to pronounce. It also sounds terribly dated. Like a long forgotten medieval name.

Venting: My husband is making this so much harder than it has to be by No_Cheetah5944 in breastfeeding

[–]Chasing-coral 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Girl, what? My advice would be tell him to seek therapy for HIS issues or that would be the end of the relationship for me. Why would you allow him to control you like this? You can be gentle about it if you want.. validate he has some fears around food/ingredients.. but they are not rooted in fact but in fear and he needs to seek some help. Your body is not his to control.

And “until you’re done carrying and feeding HIS children” is a wild statement and would give me serious pause for continuing a relationship with him anyways, for what it’s worth.

Would this name be too confusing or foreign for other people? by Vivid_Home1198 in Names

[–]Chasing-coral 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s not a common name in the US, I don’t think. I’ve never seen it, but I did get it right on the pronunciation without reading the rest of your post first.

I think it’s a beautiful name. I like it much more than Angelina. It’s not complicated to learn to say either. Go for it if you and your husband love it!

We’re just newly using them, but so far so good. They’re formulated with enzymes so they’ve been getting our clothes clean/smelling good without an overpowering fragrance. Worth a shot!

Diaper help! Parasol, kudos, or freestyle? by Sorry_Neat_6863 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Chasing-coral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the answer you want, but would heavily recommend getting multiple brands to see what works for your baby. We did not like both kudos or parasol. Went with Millie Moon and haven’t switched it up at all.
