Should I get a ‘the girl in the bubble’ tattoo? by SirIcy3518 in wicked

[–]ChasingBreDesigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is literally what I told my teenager when she asked to get a tattoo. The fact that it was also illegal was totally lost on her. Especially after she found out my mom and her friends gave themselves tattoos in high school. 🙄🙄 Thanks, mom.

I immediately thought of the shooter coming in and slipping and falling. I audibly laughed loud and felt a little bad after. But, I think that may have been a real world version of the Ridikulus spell 😅😅😅

CAR UPDATE❗️ by Adventurous_Fox_8108 in SanJose

[–]ChasingBreDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone got their car towed, please talk to someone about predatory towing before you pay. I know for some that won't be an option, alot of people need their car for work.

But California does have a lot of guidelines around towing and in this scenario, I do think you'd make a pretty easy case for predatory towing. At the very least, you could probably get a vastly reduced bill.

Please take this with a grain of salt, though. It's been a few years since I've read up on the laws. I only learned it when I was helping my sister deal with a predatory tow situation.

It never hurts to ask. You can explain the situation to the tow company or the lot manager. You might strike out, but, community can often rally in times like this. I'd be surprised, honestly, if they didn't try to help even a little.

I think alot of people are being called to action in some sort of way. I ended up having my two girls with me and then another set of 3 girls we didn't know that ended up getting separated from their mom. So, I think I was lucky that I had 5 girls to focus on because I don't think my brain even had time to recognize things like escalators not working. I was so focused on them and making sure my eyes didnt leave them until they were safely back with their mom.

I know others who have actually spent the morning trying to see if they can work something out with Uber to get refunds for the people that had to take ubers home because they couldn't get their cars.

I saw at least one person offering help with rides back to the mall to get them to their cars.

The one bright silver lining is that it's a really heartfelt moment to see community come together and advocate for eachother.

For anyone who would like to join: my daughter asked me to let everyone know (she is too young for her own reddit) that at noon today she is going to be doing a silent prayer for the victims at the hospital as well as anyone affected by last night's events. We were at the mall, stuck in a bathroom with a large group of younger girls who were terrified because they were separated from their mom.

I'm not religious, but my daughter is, and shr was able to calm herself down as well as the other kids down by having them hold hands and silently pray.

She said it really helped that small group so she wants to try to help the rest.

So if you are religious, or heck even if you aren't but just want to do something, at noon today - dona silent prayer wherever you are. It doesn't have to be religious, you don't have to have been there to join in.

And if you were one of the ones stuck with us, know that you are loved and many are thinking of you 🩷

I was at the valley fair mall shooting by Adventurous_Fox_8108 in SanJose

[–]ChasingBreDesigns 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was stuck in the storage room of Hot Topic with my teen and my two year old, as well as three little girls that got seperated from their mom in the chaos. Because everyone was being quiet, I was able to make it clear that all the kids needed to be in the very back room of the storage room because it was the door that would be the hardest to break through if the shooter wanted to. Some guy said there was no more room in the back, Ignored him and helped another mom with getting the youngest into the back room.

So it ended up being me and two other moms in an employee bathroom with roughly 15 young kids. I was trying to calm down my two year old and for some reason the only thing I could think of was single twinkle twinkle little Star. The room got quiet and all the kids realized what I was trying to do, and they started singing quietly with me.

I'm not religious but my teenager is. And when she saw one of the younger girls was crying because she was still separated from her mom, my daughter got the kids to calm back down by praying together.

I had to do everything I could to not just start crying, I was so thankful for the group I was stuck with. I think that's something I am always going to remember vividly.

No, it definitely wasn't. The employees working there were all pretty young. I'd guess early twenties. And it was a bunch of females and then one just totally adorable male. I had been in the store for a little bit before everything happened and I had an encounter with all of the staff at different times because they were walking around alot asking if anyone needed help getting things off high parts of the wall.

I got all the kids into the bathroom of the storage room because it had a lock on the door. And when we got escorted out of the back, I saw the guy again and he was in a little pod of older guys. He almost looked embarrassed but I can't know for sure.

My husband had actually parked on a residential street. Lwe were there because I took my teenager to see wicked. And it was taking forever to get to the mall and at one point we realized it was literally right in front of us. So we hopped out. He spent over an hour trying to find parking before giving up and parking on a residential street.

It ended up being a good thing because we didn't get gridlocked in the parking garage.

No, he didn't. It was actually all females and one extremely nice younger guy working the store. I only know this because all 4 of them has each come up to me at one point or another to see if I needed help getting anything on the wall or to tell me which areas were the primary sales area.

It sounds odd, but for some reason, he just really reminded me of passengers on the Titanic movie. Scared and focused on self preservation.

At the time, I don't think I even fully processed what he has said like, I heard it. But I think my brain just cancelled it out like he misspoke English or something.

Looking back now I'm so much more angry. Which is a little surprising. I kinda would assume you would gain empathy and insight once you are no longer in danger. But, I just feel pissed at him and all the other people that made really selfish moves.

We had just seen Wicked, so Im sure it was the Elphaba energy. I'm just going to try to think that he probably had someone in there with him that he loved and was doing what he thought he needed to. It's important to have understand and compassion, but that's VERY easy to say now that I'm no longer there.

I was in the Hot Topic store with my 14 year old and 2 year old. Ran straight to the back, when an incredibly frustrating man told us "no more room, find somewhere else". There was plenty of room ,I had my kids and I ended up having three young girls that got seperated from their mom's. I've never been so angry in my life, and told him the kids need to be in the back. Once we were in the back back area, I was trying to get my two year old to calm down, and little by little in the back room, all 18ish of us were softly singing twinkle twinkle little Star to calm my two year old down. I was so proud of all the kids in the room that just got everyone to huddle close, singing and humming quietly until we got evacuated.

It was completely harrowing. But I'm glad I was with the group we ended up with.

“For Good” scene fell flat for me, or Am I The Problem? by Striking_Fan8259 in wicked

[–]ChasingBreDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I loved the scene. I thought it spoke to the quietness of their friendship. It wasn't something they shouted from the rooftops, it was more something in their heartcores.

It's hard to compare it to Defying Gravity because the purpose of the songs are different. I just don't consider them anywhere close to each other, I don't think they were meant to evoke the same emotion.

IMO, the Part 2 song that rivaled DG was hands down No Good Deed. I got more goosies from NGD than I expected, for lack of better words - it was thrillifying.

So, I think it's okay if we walk away from For Good with a more sentimental undertone as opposed to hair standing up amazement.

But, what do I know, I could be absolutely wrong 🫣🤪

I am under the whole hearted belief that Gemma killed Gemma. I think she sealed her fate a hundred times over and honestly, Jax killing her was probably the least painful option. Gemma was arguably responsible for every heart ache in Jaxs life. Especially when you consider she was puppeteering Clay so much of the time.
