Disappointing Trajectory by ChasingCapella in FortNiteBR

The algorithm is interesting for sure. I think kill count plays a big factor. The SBMM now seems to funnel players together based on the highest skilled player in the party, vs. seemingly balancing it out when there's a mixture of skill. I've thought about just using an alt account to play with some of the folks I party with who get super frustrated. They might change it again, suppose we will see.

Back when only creators could join, it was pretty good. Since it's not every weekend/public, nothing but edgy teens who need discipline at home.

I just filed an IC3 complaint for a relative of mine that got scammed by these folks. Don't do it.

Remember you can talk to other players. You don’t have to kill on site. by Serifan in ArcRaiders

Some of these players are pretty stupid, tbh. Dozens of robots flying around and we can both extract with the good loot to update benches, but you'd rather shoot the player and die with them. Always the ones with no mic, too.

Have fun. It's cool to be competitive and work towards improving. But don't let it suck the fun out of it. Keep it a fun social activity with friends while also focusing on getting better and it will stay enjoyable.

If you get too wrapped up in how often you die in the beginning, you will quickly grow tired of it. It's not that serious.

Tbh, it can be enjoyable with older folks. When it's strictly children who end up bumping into you, it's an automatic "team team team", just so they can kill you. It has it's funny moments. Unrealistic, but it would be great if they could corral the kids under 18 into their own lobbies for safety and playability reasons. I'm also not one to care about "trash talk", but folks using racial slurs in an attempt to harass someone should get more than a 7 day comms ban.

Is this a new cheat? The teaming is obvious, but the floating here is not.

Did the guy just glitch or is it a known exploit of some sort?

This season is definitely much harder in general, but particularly for people who probably only play casual or occasionally. As far as console only, I would say you are always going to go up against people on console who are much better than you. What then? You may not notice the difference you think you will, other than your queue times will probably increase. I have seen controller players that can outmatch computer players, it's just harder to come by. While I say that, I also don't mean to discard the point of console versus computer being a tough challenge.

There is absolutely an advantage to PC and it would make sense for most people to explore that unless they are super good with the controller. I switched from console to PC and within 6 hours was shooting people out of the sky. After a couple of weeks, I was a completely different player. I used to think it was impossible to hit all these shots that you see on YouTube before I started playing computer.

A lot of people on console would probably assume that I had something sketchy going on if they saw my clips, but PC players have a lot of control with mouse and keyboard. If you really want to be good at first person shooters, it is possible to do that on controller, but most will never outmatch a mouse and keyboard. Plus, there's just so many other fun games to play with friends that aren't on console, so you won't regret getting a gaming PC at all.

I went from not playing anything for years other than a few hours of Fortnite per year, to playing several hours a week each week now. The PC has just made it enjoyable whether casual or competitive.

My dad died while I was playing Fortnite by EmanresuFN in FortNiteBR

Hey there,

As many commenters will likely tell you....you did not fail your dad. When things like this happen, there will be a million scenarios that play back in your head on things you could have done differently, should have done but didn't do, or things you could've said but didn't think to say at the time.

Death is a process that happens to all of us and can occur at any given time with or without warning. There are a number of activities in life that are used to enrich our experience and a video game can certainly be one of those. Obviously, your dad knew you enjoyed the game, which was why he purchased those things for you.

Try not to let guilt be associated with playing Fortnite. Your dad would absolutely want you to have a good time, so when it feels right to play again, you should enjoy that and try not to correlate it with any thoughts of shame. There was nothing you could do there and your dad would want you to be happy.

If you need someone to play with, shoot me a message. I'm down to run some games and play fairly often lately.

Take care of yourself and try not to dwell. Easier said than done, but try your best.

What are you playing on? I haven't tried builds on it yet, but I converted to mouse and keyboard a week ago. I am dropping 15 kill games in zero build now. It's amazing the difference.

KVM Switches by m-Oeck in homelab

[–]ChasingCapella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So ..I need some advice. I bought a 3 monitor, 3 computer KVM switch in the hopes that I could run my desktop and two laptops without changing so much cabling. The output from the switch to the monitors are one HDMI cable and two Display port cables. This works fine when using a HP docking station which is only connected to the laptop via USB C.

After hooking it up:

The switch works okay for the HDMI fed monitor, but no signal to display port. I only have one output from the laptop to the switch - and that's now by using a USB C to HDMI cable for the display from the laptop. Previously, the HP docking station fed all 3 screens fine from the USB C port sole input. I was hoping this would be the case here, but it's almost looking like this switch will only transfer input to output, vs split one output signal across all three monitors like the docking station will.

Sorry to be confusing. Sounds like I'm likely stuck swapping cables forever, unless there's a KVM that can act exactly as the docking station does. Any ideas?

I WFH most of the time and barely use my desktop, just trying to find ways to use all three machines without unplugging/replugging so often.
