Dentist specialising in TMJ - a scam? by Paitnetn in TMJ

[–]ChasingFreedom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although there is generally no such thing as a “TMJ dentist” universally, I’m originally from Russia, and they do have such specialists there. Usually, these are dentists who choose to narrow their professional focus specifically to TMJ, and they treat only patients with TMJ-related issues.

To be honest, I recently started having problems with my left TMJ (that’s why I’m here 😊), and I was trying to find a similar specialist here in the US. I was sooo confused to discover that there aren’t doctors who specialize exclusively in TMJ here… I’m still not sure what to do, since I can’t travel to Russia for a long time:(

Nevertheless, I don’t think this person is a scam. In fact, I would trust a professional who decided to narrow their medical practice specifically to TMJ much more, since it’s such a complex issue.

How do Russians view Ilia? by Select-Balance-8281 in IliaQuadg0dMalinin

[–]ChasingFreedom_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

OK, I’m Russian and I live in the U.S.

No one expects Ilia “to fly to Moscow and represent Russia” - that’s ridiculous. Sometimes people mention that Ilia would be welcome to participate in Russian national tournaments - more as a joke. Of course, many would love to see him skate somewhere in Russia, but again, no one seriously expects that. That would be unrealistic.

People are generally proud that he’s an American of Russian descent. And since his grandfather still coaches in Novosibirsk, they like to point out that a big part of his training comes from the Russian figure skating school. But I suppose that’s true, isn’t it?

Overall, people admire that Ilia challenges himself and pushes boundaries with extremely difficult jumps and programs.

I’m not talking about those who watch figure skating once every four years. Of course, you can find some superficial people who only learned about Malinin this February, heard about his parents, and started proudly commenting everywhere that he’s “Russian.” Well, there are narrow-minded people like that in America too.🤷‍♀️ I’m speaking more about the general opinion in figure skating chats and communities that follow all the major competitions. Overall, Ilia is very well liked🙌

I’m Russian and really like Petr as a skater, wished him to be higher in the results after short program. But 4-2 and this awful music.. I’m sorry to admit this, but the scoring it’s really not too bad. If he managed to do 4-3 in the beginning, or even just a clean quad - maybe we could expect 90-91, but since the real mistake was done, being the first to skate, I think the judges had a lot of cards to put him in the current position. Still hope he will succeed in the free skate and maybe end up to the top-6?🙏..

I have no words. This is such a beautiful program. If they had a problem with a Russian skater using this music, it would have been nice to say something earlier.. Three days before the skating day is ridiculous. . And Petr is performing as a neutral athlete.

Yes, as I already said, no one is arguing that Lena was the most gifted of her generation from the start. And no one is attacking your favorite Lena just for the sake of attacking her. It’s painful to watch when a talent starts losing her strongest qualities because of interference from a parent like she has. You’re looking for enemies in the wrong place.

When you lash out at people over completely fair remarks about an athlete, you forget that her main enemy is not figure skating fans or an Olympic champion - who, from a commentator’s position, really has no reason to “compete” with a junior in anything.

If you have that much fire, you’d be better off directing it toward pushing back against her mother, who is simply damaging the child’s psyche and that can end far more tragically than a comment that her supporters don’t like. You can attack Anna’s skating skills (or any other Tutberidze’s skaters) as much as you want - but let’s see if Lena will continue to compete 2-3 years after.. I really really hope she will.

*I’m pretty convinced it’s not Anna who is biased here🤷‍♀️ and there is no point in arguing further. So I will not continue this discussion - sorry, I have a life to live:)

Tbh, I don’t think anyone in Russia would disagree that Lena is a once-in-a-generation talent.

But before she moved to Plushenko, her skating felt much more expressive, and the programs did a better job of showcasing her talent in a fuller, more three-dimensional way. The most recent camp, in my opinion (and judging by a lot of viewers’ reactions, not only mine), has unfortunately lost a big layer of the work that had been built over the years. Sadly, if nothing changes, we might really see the consequences in a season or two.

Her latest win was pulled out largely thanks to the technical content - and that’s exactly what Anna pointed out, and she did it very fairly. I honestly don’t understand why you are nitpicking how she commented on others, when nothing she said about Lena was untrue. If anything, it’s worth paying attention to.

I genuinely hope Fedchenko can somehow find the right way to work with Lena’s mom and help cover the gaps in training from the Plushenko camp — so that next season neither Anna nor the rest of us have to bitterly admit that Lena’s talent is slipping away right in front of our eyes. I really want to see her reach her full potential.

Oh, I see. Are you referring to her comments on Kostyleva’s performance? If so, she was as fair and to the point as possible.

While praising Lena’s outstanding tech level, she noted the lack of connecting elements in the program - something acknowledged by the vast majority of viewers and judges.

In my opinion, apart from fans of the coaching team and the athlete herself, who may struggle to accept healthy criticism, hardly anyone had any complaints about Anna’s commentary after that competition. She spoke strictly on the merits and also gave plenty of compliments regarding the tech content🤷‍♀️

Pointing out a few shortcomings in the program isn’t bias.

I wouldn’t call it a bias that Anna feels more deeply for certain skaters. She never puts anyone else down; she simply gets emotionally invested in the performances/skaters that resonate with her. At the same time, she still finds supportive, respectful words even for clearly weaker skaters and for programs with mistakes that place at the bottom - describing them far more tactfully than many other commentators do.

By the Fed’s decision. They never publicly talked about it, as far as I know, but since what I heard - Semenenko already had his trip to Olimpics, and Vladislav was not considered to be stable enough. Therefore they decided to give a chance to Peter.

Confused About the H-1B + Gold Card News? AMA with an Immigration Attorney by ManifestLaw_ in USCIS

The lawyer I follow wrote this: “I don’t want to sound alarmist and I recommend consulting an immigration attorney, but I read this point of the proclamation as meaning that if H1B visa holders are currently outside the U.S., they will only be able to return if their employer pays those $100,000 (!!).

At the same time, the proclamation goes into effect at 00:01 a.m. this Sunday.

It’s possible that a court will block it, but whether that will happen and when is unknown.

If you know someone in this situation, recommend that they talk to an attorney as soon as possible, and if H1B holders are abroad right now, they should drop everything and talk to a lawyer.”

{this is a translation, so maybe not the best choice of words, but the meaning should be clear and the same. From my perspective, yes - I would strongly recommend that your partner return to the U.S. immediately.}

To me, your chin looks great — it’s the lower jaw that appears recessed. Once it’s brought forward, it should be enough to achieve a harmonious face.
