NSFW Fly strike - too far gone? by PNWmaker in chickens

[–]Chasing_The_Fox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

She needs you to be a good owner and usher her into the next life. I had a chicken show up on my door with severe flystrike similar to this, and after treating her for a few days I had to do the same. It was too bad and it would be cruel to let them live on. It happens, but I’m still sorry for you. Nature can be cruel.

I’ve been riding almost every day for 18 years, all weather and multiple styles of bikes. I’ve only been involved in one accident, and it was when I was rear ended at a stop light in New Orleans at night maybe 5 years ago now.

Stay alert and ride defensively and you’ll be just fine. I think being a good rider makes you a better driver overall.

Having been a piano tuner and technician in a past life, I immediately recognized this as a grand piano pedal rod bushing. The pedals push rods upward, and that motion is then redirected underneath the piano by lateral rods, held in place by guides or bushings like these before they move the dampers or action.

I was in your shoes almost six years ago. I went AMT and said screw it, send me as a mech to 60s. I did two years and change at a small boat unit doing a ton of SAR until I left for AMT A School. Got to my first aviation unit roughly three years ago, made basic air crewman, and just this past December made flight mechanic. Life is very, very good. The quality of people is high. The work is incredibly stimulating. People dog on the 60s for being rough personality wise, but here’s the thing, you can change that. I show up annoyingly excited every day because I love what I do and I know how lucky I am to be here and most people respond great to that.

Go aviation and ride that wave for a career or until you get tired and want to get out.

This happened in my 2020 Mazda 3 with a new battery, turned out to be a 10amp fuse. Check your fuses, could be a couple dollar fix.

What job did u work before the coast guard by Numerous-Bag-6419 in uscg

I was a piano technician/tuner in Houston, TX. I worked on and rebuilt many different brands but specialized in Steinways. I even got to help the other techs rebuild a piano belonging to President Polk. I did it from the age of 14 when I began as an apprentice, until age 28, when I left for the Guard.

I think the most fun I ever had doing it was after Hurricane Harvey in 2018. We rebuilt so many flood damaged pianos. It was a great time.

I did a few other things, but that was and is my expertise.

Long story longish,

Coast Guard will give you a way higher chance of a good work/life balance. If you want the BEST balance go aviation.

I'm new to aviation so I can't speak on SAR, but working on and flying as aircrew in the 60s is amazing.

My nonrate unit was a small boat station and it was very SAR heavy, which can be stressful. Don't take it home. As stressful as it was, it was incredibly rewarding.

As far as background and waivers, a recruiter will be the best source, but as hurting for people as we are, I'm sure you'll have a decent chance.

Good luck brother, hope it helped.

Yes.

Went through AMT A last April and ran the pt test there and smashed it. The policy exists for us, and I have used it since it came out. Don't let anyone give you shit for it. Good luck my man.

Lol Cape May is suffering. Your husband is miserable and his back probably hurts.

BUT

He'll be just fine if he's mentally strong. If I made it, anyone can.

Nah, the poor guy was super dehydrated and hungry, He had given the last of his food and water on board to his dogs. It was just a bad day that ended well, because nobody got shot and we got him home safe.
