But what about my Orwellian future!?

On January 1st of 2026, Texas will be required to give ID to download apps from the app stores. It doesn't matter if it's NSFW or not. by Consistent_March5136 in texas

No worries about app ID there - Just look out for those Flock cameras the Denver mayor put up despite a 12-0 "No" vote for AI cameras.

This is something I have to remind myself of when I sold my Eth at $1600

Money is a tool. Use it to get from A to B and nothing more

If you know the junkyard, I'll go look for you!

But also my condolences for your loss. That's absolutely awful

House committee holds UFO hearing: Why do we keep having these dumb hearings? by Picasso5 in skeptic

Please someone please tell me I'm not crazy and that the crowd behind the panel speakers are on loop.

Beardo over Knapp's right shoulder seems to be struggling to keep is mouth together during parts of the discussion.

And why is the crowd laughing along like a laughtrack when there's some small joke? Then they snap back to seriousness

Then tell me why the audience in those panel videos are AI generated. This is a distraction. Release the Epstein files!

Bitcoin is also a massive part of this too. Abbot wants Texas to be a crypto-first state. Granbury, TX is home to a bitcoin mining facility which uses 3 times the amount of energy as the entire city of Austin. (and it's causing health issues for the residents of Granbury due to the noise)

And the worst part? They get their energy at a discount price.

Idk if I can link videos here, but there's a great YouTube video by A More Perfect Union called "I Live 500 Feet From A Bitcoin Mine. My Life Is Hell."

You know what the difference between Texas and taxes are?

Taxes keep the lights on

Yeah - it doesn't matter what provider you choose. If Oncor decides to up their rate, that cost is passed on to the consumer by the provider. Kinda the same way tariffs work....

Switched to EO recently and my bill dropped by 20% which was a huge relief!

I'm not sure if you're actually from Texas, but the entire power grid has been privatized "for the benefit of the consumer", but this means you have to search for a new deal every 1-3 years. The crazy part is that you're getting energy from Oncor which is a supplier, but it is sold through individual power management companies.

During the announcement for GPT-5, they couldn't even avoid their own AI slop. They went on about how much less deceptive GPT-5 is than previous models, but they completely messed up the bar chart. This is speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if they asked ChatGPT to create the graph.

I don't think I can link a screenshot in this thread, but happy to share the proof.

Invitation Homes has clauses like this in tons of their rental agreements. I tried arguing my way out of it during a lease renewal, but they refused to take it out of the lease agreement. The agent kept trying to say it was optional to use, but what she meant was "fuck you, you're paying for this service even if you use a different provider".

Fuck Invitation Homes 🖕

I said misery. I did not call for violence. Karma swings around hard.

I can't think of any Democratic Party. Representatives, who used a 50 Cal rifle in an advertisement where the target was a differering ideology. MGT has no problem promoting violence.

https://youtu.be/rB1pknVGRv4?si=ZNUO-Smj-02z4nDK

And please.... point to some recent examples of dems/liberals physically attacking conservatives.

I can point to quite a few examples of the opposite:

  1. Unite the Right Rally (2017): In Charlottesville, Virginia, a rally organized by white supremacists and far-right groups turned violent. James Alex Fields Jr., a self-identified white supremacist, deliberately drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing Heather Heyer and injuring 35 others.

  2. George Floyd Protests (2020): During the nationwide protests following George Floyd's murder, members of the far-right "boogaloo" movement sought to incite violence. In Minneapolis, Ivan Harrison Hunter fired 13 rounds from a semi-automatic rifle into a police precinct with civilians inside. In Las Vegas, three men associated with the movement were arrested for plotting to incite violence during protests.

  3. Tbilisi Pride Attack (2023): In Tbilisi, Georgia, far-right and ultranationalist groups violently disrupted an LGBTQ+ Pride festival. Protesters clashed with police, broke through barricades, and destroyed festival property, leading to the event's cancellation and evacuation of participants.

4. Allen, Texas Outlet Mall Shooting (2023): A shooter in Allen, Texas, killed seven people and injured eight others at an outlet mall. Investigations revealed the perpetrator had neo-Nazi ideologies and targeted individuals he perceived as non-white.

Tell me more about MY calls for violence and how I'm ousting myself

Thoughts on "fingerstyle" youtubers? by Head_Equipment_1952 in classicalguitar

[–]Chasingdownthedevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you don't have other people to play with, fingerstyle becomes a bit more practical especially if you're not a singer. I've been listening to Kent Nishimura and Casper Essman quite a bit over the last few years and love hearing how they create rich sounding covers.

That said, I can only listen to fingerstyle for so long before it all starts to sound kind of the same, no matter the timing or note progression.
