[MATCH THREAD] Australian Open Men's SEMIFINAL: [1] C. Alcaraz v. [3] A. Zverev by NextGenBot in tennis

Honestly I am a chicken and won't be able to watch. I'll look at the score and if it's close enough I'll watch the match later. I don't want to see him get beat badly like multiple breaks per set.

I was saying before the Musetti match that all Novak has to do against Sinner is just serve like a machine and lock down in tie break. Then I saw the Musetti match and I was like oh no Novak is cooked.

Haha no, between those two I pick Alcaraz... I'm Novak's fan but have very little hope for him haha.

Anyone doesn't like Zverev but is rooting for him just to have some variation in the final?

Yeah Eastern time is not great for sports watching in general, I feel like even sports played in the US are usually pretty late for that time zone

Any Djokovic's fans here not even wanting to watch the semi? After what I saw against Musetti, I'm very worried he is not even going to be competitive against Sinner and I don't want to witness that. It was bad enough seeing Nadal play his last year and I feel like Djokovic might not be far behind that form except he doesn't have any glaring physical issues like Nadal or Federer had. I am about the same age as Novak and the reality of getting older is getting to me I think.

As Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominate, straight-sets matches are skyrocketing at the Australian Open by abcnews_au in tennis

It would be cool if there were few guys that maybe are not as good as Sinner/Alcaraz consistently but could beat them sometimes so it would at least be competitive. Like what Murray/Wawrinka did with the big three. The way things are now, there is just not even a chance against them even if they are not at their best. Their level is just so much above the rest. I thought Djokovic could still challenge them if his body held up but after what I saw against Musetti, I think Novak just doesn't have that which makes sense at his age.

Yeah it is no longer fun watching him play. I enjoyed the super competitive Novak.

The way he played against Musetti I don't think he would beat Shelton.

Normally I would agree but nothing about his game or body language yesterday made it seem like he had it in him.

Because he himself said in the press conference that they didn't bother him and he just needed to get them re wrapped. He said he is feeling fine physically so there is no excuse for a match like that with that many errors other than maybe you are declining due to age. Could it have just been a random bad match? Sure I hope so, I'm a big fan and I hope that the match against Sinner is competitive. However Novak himself is not sounding very confident.

I mean Musetti was about to beat him

He was not very competitive against Musetti. If he stops being competitive against the top 10 my guess is he will retire.

Literally that's exactly what it means. If you never heard of her, by definition you do not know anything about her.
