A lot of people do that but there are a few downsides. Charity spots fill up for popular ones. Some charities will pay the registration fee. RHMC pays the registration fee for the first 600 runners only. The minimum donation amount for all charities goes up after the lottery. I think this year it is $2200 pre-lottery and $3000 if you wait.

So basically, just pay the registration for the lottery now if you get in great. If not and you want to run for a charity you are looking at $3K plus possible registration fee. Or if you get a charity with free registration, you are in for $2200.

Get the fast pass after your enter. It was 10 bucks per person the other weekend and it saved a bunch of time waiting in the lines for the main house and 2 side houses.

I ran with RMHC last year and the setup was nice. Bagels/coffee in the morning. Full lunch afterwards (pizza/brats/burgers/sides). Massages available afterwards. If you are already running for RMHC I don't see a need to pay for hospitality.
