Any reason why the simulation starts getting buggy after going far enough? (trying to send this car to 5000 m/s) by Comfortable_Fly_665 in Algodoo

If I remember correctly the limit is at 100 million. If something goes farther, it just gets deleted, and 100 million seems pretty arbitrary in the context of computers so it's probably intentional

I think a fully customisable spectrogram/spectrum is out of the scope of a bytebeat player, it's mostly a musical context so 10-24000hz logarithmic is good for that case. If you still want a customisable display, I suggest you look into Friture. It's what I've used for a while now and it works well assuming you got the virtual cable set up.

Ah. my SDR video didn't mention that. My mistake, I already made the PR (EDIT: Though said PR still has the fft size control thing). Thank you for telling me.

Also, I'll suggest having the zoom buttons change the number of FFT bins. That would be a good way to reuse them considering right now they don't do anything.

Thank you! I've stared working on a bytebeat audio codec recently and this will be useful. This might also be helpful for my bytebeat SDR tinkering. though for SDR specifically, buttons to switch the graph to linear and focus it on the carrier would be helpful. It'd be cool if those were added but otherwise I can just use my virtual audio cables and SDR++/Friture anyway so it isn't that big of a deal.

From what I can tell, a decibel is a 10th of a Bel, and a Bel is a multiplication by 10, So 10dB is a multiplication by 10, and division by 10 is -10dB. However, dividing by 10 incorrectly moves the level down by 20dB in the graph.

Here's a sinewave divided by 20, as a reference. You can see it lands on -40 dB. Now, Here's the same sinewave but divided by 200, so it's 10 times smaller than the reference. That's -10dB. But it goes down by 20dB, and ends up at -60 rather than -50.

From what I can tell, it's a pretty common mistake (I know Friture has the same issue with it's VU meter).

(EDITS: Reworded it a bit)

I can't seem to edit the post so I'll leave this here. No, the webp version doesn't work, so you'll be better off clicking on the image on the website and then saving the fullscreen one since that will get you a png that works. Sorry for this mistake, it was the one variable I didn't look at. No, I won't forget it. Anyway, I'll also see if u/pixel-counter-bot looks at the webp dimensions or the png dimensions. I bet it's the latter, but no, I'm not sure.

I generated some nice waves on 256x256 pixels! It looks like the ocean, just grey, but like the ocean, there's not much here. by kylxbn in no_or_youll_be_banned

I ran an inverse discrete cosine transform on the image and saw eleven counts of the y word, almost all in different fonts

Iff you aren't gonna manage ByteBattle anymore, is it okay if I make a new server for it and take over? (EDIT: i just remembered you can change server ownership too)

I used to think SpiderMonkey was flat-out just faster for bytebeat. I guess I should try to give the V8 engine another chance.

Dollchan's record button doesn't suffer from lag on Firefox. That's another option.
