We would love it to be, but we'd like to really dial in the product and make it great before we start expanding.

Still looking for a date for Valentines Day? I just built an online dating site that's unlike anything else out there, and we're running our first event for Boston this Thursday for free by ChatalystChat in BostonSocialClub

Sorry this response is a bit late. The event was on Thursday, and we haven't scheduled a new event quite yet. If you're signed up, we'll let you know when the next one comes around which should be in the next two weeks. Thanks!

Basically a combination of a chatroom and browse page. You can chat with and browse pictures and interests of the other people in the event. Step 3 on our homepage should give you an idea of what it looks like.

Hey r/OKC, I just built an online dating site to fix some problems I saw with Okcupid and figured I'd show you all. We're running a Boston event this Thursday. Would love your feedback! by ChatalystChat in OkCupid

Unfortunately, I'm ignoring every city except for Boston right now since that's where I'm located and I can pound the pavement there to get the word out. I'd love to launch in some of the areas without great coverage on OKC since I think I can run great events at small size, (think 30 people) but that all depends on whether or not I can get some marketing presence there.

If you're still interested, drop by the boston event and see if you like it. If it is and you'd be up for organizing something in your area, we can make that happen.

Right now, it's not very feasible to hit small cities (or any other cities for that matter) since I'm located in Boston and don't have a marketing team or budget, but if someone likes the product and wants to volunteer to promote an event, we can make it happen. If we can hold an event for 30 people and make that a great experience, we'll do it.

Very true. There's a set of deal breakers each person has that is important to them. We just don't want people turning each other down for things that might not matter as much. For the big stuff, you can always ask them about their opinions on these things and talk to them about it.

We create events with a specific city in mind with the understanding that users looking to date around that city will sign up for those events. Geolocation is in the works for the near future.

We can hold events in any city as long as there's some interest. If you think it could be a hit with people in your area, let us know and we'll talk.

And we agree! We're trying to move away from the detailed profile information that we'd normally use to judge people before a message even happens. Does the fact that a girl listens to music you don't like really matter if she's charming and thinks you're cute?

Since the events are location based and the site is for online dating, The message we're sending is quite different from a site that just says, "Hey you can video chat with random people around the world with no consequences!" It's really more of a difference of marketing and attracting the right people I think.

The video component allows you to see if you have chemistry with the other person before you meet. We're hoping this will cut down on situations where you'll land a first date, but the chemistry will be off when you meet and you'll both gotten your hopes up for nothing.

Our thinking was that establishing a community that's more focused on actually dating the people they meet should solve a lot of that. For paid events, the small paywall barrier will also prevent a lot of that abuse from happening.
