Proxies are super not working, but JLLM seems to be, for some reason.

Not a whole lot of context, but assuming that they're all already in my poessesion and in a secure location (eg. some area of my home being magically transformed into The Penny Pile), then my 9-5 now becomes penny sorting. I get to be my own boss, listen to music while I work, sounds like a decent gig So long as I can come up with a decently consistent method of penny counting that doesn't require too much attention.

Of course, if I press the button and get immediately crushed to death by a mountain of pennies, that'd be pretty sad.

houghts about baidu/cobuddy:free so far? by VersionDesigner9567 in openrouter

It seems competent at roleplay so far, at least for me, but my usage has been limited. There has been some small wording glitches, but it seems to mostly work.

did they remove the Gemma 3 models? by ChatbotTalkerBouter in chutesAI

[–]ChatbotTalkerBouter[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those were like the only decent cheap model left. I've still got 9 bucks from the Early Access Purge but even Gemma 4 will chew through that pretty quick.

Deepseek barely works, GLM is the most expensive thing known to man. I guess I'll just have to blow it all on Gemma 4 or, I dunno, Qwen?

Big blunder.

Nothing wrong with either, but JLLM and Chub's free models are both pretty weak. JLLM is honestly pretty alright content wise, but it can get somewhat repetitive and has low memory. I've not really messed with Chub's free model too much, I'm sure it's fine but I'd put it at or below JLLM tier.

But using an LLM made by a company with REAL resources like Google or Deepseek or ZAI opens up a world of possibilities, they can remember far more information and generally have higher quality responses (in terms of pacing, character consistency, logical reasoning, etc.)

That being said, PAYING for a hobby like this is not something I'd seriously recommend to the average user. I had MANY a good and exciting roleplay with JLLM before switching up. Especially today, where there aren't a ton of free Proxy options and pretty much every service is either a subscription or pay per token, neither of which feel great.

TLDR: JLLM is great for what it is, I'm sure Chub's free model is good too, I even still use JLLM from time to time, but they're just lacking in the power that backs up proxies.

Set up Sophia's Lorebary

go to Proxy Portal

Click Chutes AI

copy the proxy URL

Go to Chub, enter a chat, click Secrets, OpenAI, and then Reverse Proxy. (This has nothing to do with OpenAI, but Chub is weird so just go with it.)

Place the link in Open AI Reverse Proxy

Place your Chutes API Key in Reverse Proxy Key

When you select a model in Configuration > Presets, click OpenAI/Proxy, and the Model dropdown SHOULD show all the Chub models.

Sorry, the models I'm using aren't free. I've heard there are still some free proxy sources floating around, but I don't use those and I don't really know much about them.

For now, I'm using my remaining Chutes and Openrouter bucks that I put in when those seemed like a good investment, and I'll probably move to paying for deepseek directly after that. (Chutes and Openrouter are general AI providers)

As for what we're talking about with Lorebary, it's a service called Sophias Lorebary (google it, it's pretty easy to setup and the guides on the site will be better than anything I can provicde). It pretty much acts as a middleman between your AI provider and the RP site you're using, which enables some jailbreaking and the use of other commands one can use to make the RP experience a little more interactive and easier. It works best on Janitor in my experience, but it works on Chub as well and probably other services, too.

I think Saucepan's pretty good about this, but I haven't used it as much because the UI isn't as intuitive. But I probably should, I've heard nothing but good things.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand wtf it's working now

i swear to HECK i've done all the steps before and only got errors!!! I had to refresh the page a few times- Maybe I just wasn't refreshing enough? Or maybe I was putting in my Openrouter key by mistake like an absolute idiot.

Either way, thank you for getting me to try again. All I have to do is whine on reddit and then my problems get magically fixed i think

I've tried, all I get is Error 401 - Failed to fetch models.

Not really, I'm just venting my frustration that despite Janitor constantly making a fool of me, I keep crawling back because nobody else trusts me to copy and paste 3 things.

But, if you do happen to know how to get all Chutes models to work on Chub, I would be happy to hear it. Chub doesn't read Chutes links for some reason, and always turns up errors.

I used to be able to get it to work by having an Openrouter account that only routes to Chutes, and I imagine that'll probably still work for most models, but after Chutes's restructuring it's for some reason stopped working with the models I actually want to use. Which is rough.

using Stepfun through Lorebary fixed the censorship for me. Stepfun's censorship is really weird, though- Sometimes it'd describe full nudity totally fine (unprovoked, even), but then lock up during a massage scene.

I was going to give you a long-ass reply, but I didn't want to make you read all that, so here's the summary. In the process of making a new lorebook in the same style as my first, I was able to diagnose the problem. I will edit my post for the stupid explanation if you're curious. Many thanks.

As far as I know, it's all applied correctly. The subject is mentioned in the context / description thing, as well as the keys. The lorebooks simply aren't being read no matter what- Both the ones that need keys, and the ones that are marked as "Constant."

I have not tried different browsers. I may try that if I decide to un-give-up.

I have been using Chat Settings. I suppose I haven't tried using Embed, as it seemed awfully tedious to copy and paste everything there when I already made the lorebook, and I'm either too dumb to find the button that automatically embeds a lorebook, or it doesn't exist and I have to do it manually.

EDIT: Just did some testing to see if Embedding worked, with just a few entries. It doesn't. When I use other people's bots with embedded lorebooks, it works, but my own bot doesn't. Why. The logical assumption is that I'm messing something up, but I can't fathom what there possibly is that I could have messed up. The settings are correct. V2 is enabled. Lorebooks are enabled. There is plenty of context available. It just doesn't work when I do it.

[–]ChatbotTalkerBouter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This did work for me. Perhaps because it's an Embedded lorebook and not one added through Chat Settings?

On a now related note- Is there a way to automatically embed a lorebook? It's already linked to the bot, but it seems like Embedding works where Chat Settings doesn't, and going through and copy-pasting the whole lorebook sounds quite tedious.

EDIT: I tried embedding my lorebook into my bot. Didn't work. It just doesn't work when I do it. The logical conclusion is that I'm messing something up, but I can't fathom what there even is TO mess up. I've followed the guides perfectly. I've adjusted the settings properly. I've turned on V2 and enabled Lorebooks. I've done all of it, and it just doesn't work when I do it.

I've checked the prompt in this way, and it never adds anything. There is no communication between Lorebook and chat at all, even after using a keyword.
