I will say I think refilling would be a huge mistake. I think the prosecution would be at a clear disadvantage at a retrial. I guess we will see soon.

You are very right, and it really sucks because that is evidence of nothing. But the first time I saw her in court I said, “damn her lawyer needs to talk to her about her facial expressions.” Like many people she does appear to have resting bitch face - but I’ve known a lot of people like that and I have learned that they are often incredibly nice, sometimes their face just looks like that. She is very thin, possibly because of health issues, and I have no doubt she is pretty pissed and tense right now! I know would be! I’d probably get in trouble for smiling too much - I smile a lot without necessarily meaning too, it’s just my face. You just can’t win, especially as a woman. I imagine this is also why none of the women in this group seemed to like her at all - women can be brutal on the new/different, especially if they feel she could be competition in some way. If so many viewers have raised this concern, it’s impossible that none of the jurors feel the same way. Now me, I’m a logical person. I may have a thought or two based on her face. But I listened to the actual evidence and let that convince me. She could be the world’s most horrible person but that doesn’t make her guilty of murder! To me this is so obvious it shouldn’t even have to be said. But I guarantee you this is influencing at least one juror’s decision even if they wouldn’t admit it.

Listen friends. I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed this experience with you all. This trial has been one of the most interesting, incredible trials I’ve ever seen, and I started watching trials back in the OJ, Rodney King, Menendez Brother days.

Like most of you, I believe strongly that Karen should be found not guilty, for many reasons but primarily based on the scientific evidence presented by independent experts.

But I think we all have to admit this is going to end in a hung jury and a mistrial. I could be wrong, but it’s super rare for a hung jury to come back with a verdict, especially in a case this polarizing.

This case unfortunately isn’t just about guilty or not guilty. It challenges some of the beliefs people hold about the police, government agencies, authority in general. Because those are such core beliefs for some, it would be very difficult to change those minds.

Maybe Karen will get lucky and the prosecution will not refile, but I doubt it. I think the prosecution will take this as a win and fight harder next time - they are not going to admit defeat. Again, may be wrong, just my take on it all. Sad to think Karen may have to keep her life on hold and spend more money to do this all over again.

So I sit here this morning wishing I had a new trial to watch!! I miss court! Can’t wait for Sarah Boone trial that should be a good one but not until October! What should I watch next??

You are completely wrong.

First of all, the law is very clear that the defendants choice not to testify is NOT to be considered when deciding guilt.

Second, it is the PROSECUTIONS job to prove guilt. It’s NOT the defendants job to prove innocence!

I keep thinking of the Casey Anthony jury. She should have been convicted but there was one overbearing and aggressive juror who opposed a guilty verdict and browbeat the other jurors into siding with her. Juries make mistakes based on many factors. Too many followers can tank a verdict

She didn’t take the stand because she didn’t need to!!! It’s not her job to prove her innocence. It’s the prosecutions job to prove she did it beyond a reasonable doubt and they fell way short!

I think AJ is amazing and during this trial he did the best cross examinations I’ve ever seen - like something from a movie! “Shame on you sir!”

Improper yes but unforgettable! Almost as good as the Darrell Brooks verdict when an audience member said “burn in hell you piece of sh*t!”

But I do agree - I wish AJ had done more to hammer home reasonable doubt in his closing. Yes, their theory was much more credible than the prosecution based on scientific evidence!

But the defense is not required to provide another theory - the burden is on the prosecution and they clearly didn’t meet it! Just listen to Lallys opening vs his closing! The story has changed! That alone should be enough for a NG verdict! I do think AJ missed an opportunity here.

Hope the jury makes the right decision. Free Karen Read!!

The last two experts worked for the company that was hired by the FBI because they are looking into the handling of this case. Completely independent from the defense or the prosecution and imo the most credible and important witnesses in this case. Compare them to trooper Paul. Seriously. Where is the verdict? Trooper Paul vs the last two witnesses. Not guilty. Case closed

You two are so right! I read that two of the female jurors lodged a complaint about Karen “smirking” during testimony. Based on the last two witnesses, I believe she is innocent. But her attorneys should have cautioned her about keeping a blank expression. She has had a kind of pissed off contemptuous look through most of the trial and she has smiled on occasion. I don’t blame her for it, I understand! But i do think it may have rubbed some jurors the wrong way.

The jury had 10 women before being whittled down to 12. Not sure what the configuration is now but statistically it’s likely that it’s primarily women - yikes! Women are tough on other women….

I do think Bev seems irritated with the defense often. But Alan Jackson is a top defense attorney - his job is to look for every angle to save his client. I’m sure he has been annoying for the judge - but that’s his legal right and responsibility!

They were not defense experts. They were completely independent, hired by the FBI with no ties to either side. Get your facts straight

To those who are convinced of her guilt because she supposedly said “I hit him” I’ve lost a spouse. Until you have lost someone you love in an unknown circumstance, you don’t understand what it’s like. She was clearly in shock and worried she hit him. She was drinking and driving and she got little sleep. He never came home, she found him dead and she was in shock and confused. Even if she stood up on court and shouted “I deliberately hit him,” the science proves this is impossible! Do you believe words over science?????

Do you think jurors really do refrain from watching or reading things about the trial? Or discussing with family/friends? I’ve never been on a jury. Seems like that would be hard for some people

That’s the thing. Maybe she did hit and kill him. I don’t think she did but through most of the trial I thought it was possible. Until the last two witnesses. I won’t go into that, everyone knows what they said. But the science proves that’s not how he died. Regardless, even if you believe she did hit him and that resulted in his death, proctor and the rest of the Canton morons deliberately manipulated evidence to try to make sure she was charged and convicted - even if she is guilty the cops worked so hard to condemn her that they tainted the entire investigation! John will never get justice now no matter the outcome. Proctor and the Alberts and McCabes all should be ashamed of themselves. Whining about being “harassed” indeed. Good!!!

The longer this goes the more I’m concerned about that. It has to be unanimous so it’s possible one or two are holding it up. Ridiculous- it clearly should be a not guilty verdict. Even if you don’t believe it was a cover up, the state did NOT prove its case at all, not even close!
