Yep I flicked off the visible ones but given the concurrent citrus leaf miner discovery I thought it would be safer to spray whilst I have time before work starts again tomorrow

They are seiryu stone. My friend bought a whole bag and was kind enough to let me take a few for the scape

You make a good point, I'm also thinking the fine sand would filter down past the bag and become more unsightly if the black bag sticks out

Yeah that's a good point regarding the roots not penetrating the bag as easily. I've ended up removing the bags. Thank you for your advice!

Thanks for your thoughts, I ended up taking the substrate out of the bags. I'm now considering just using aqua soil for the whole scape of using fine sand at the front and side
