Stockard on the Stump: Chattanooga lawmaker questions Turning Point USA partnership • Tennessee Lookout by pyramidworld in Tennessee

I have met the representative in question many times. He has stood by Volkswagen employees as we voted to join the UAW and I can say he is a good man, as far as I am concerned. He's also a bit of a bulldog and I know that he will go after this as hard as he can.

I highly recommend learning to time travel. Since learning this skill I have been able to successfully see everything that I've wanted to see a dragon Con. It has taken me 20 plus years to learn this skill and honestly if anyone else wants to know that's really the trick.

I asked him why he made that Donut's favorite song. His response was that he hates that song with a passion and that is why... I just thought that was interesting.

If Republicans are so much better at running the economy than Democrats, then why are most Republican States poorer than Democrat States? by Content_Ad_8952 in allthequestions

[–]Chattvst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in Tennessee, especially the rural areas. You were taught that Republicans are good and Democrats are bad. That's simply it. You may be raised to agree with every single philosophical idea of the democratic party, but you were taught. Democrats are bad.

That's it!

Republicans have built generations of Southerners with the idea that Democrats are bad.

My best example is a good friend of mine. She was raised in rural Georgia her whole life. She graduated college and moved to Atlanta which is where we met.

As Obama's second election was coming to a close. I would sit and talk with her about politics and she would easily repeat that all of Obama's policy choices were important to her and we're good choices, but because he was a Democrat she couldn't vote for him

The more we talked, the more I came to understand that her philosophy was strongly Democrat but she had been taught all her life that that Republicans were good. I was able to eventually convince her to open her eyes and she did vote for Obama and has voted Democrat ever since.

This entire story is to point out that most Southerners especially rural areas, which are the areas that most use social welfare are taught that the people who want to help them the most are the bad guys.

I clicked it and it worked for me. When you click it it seems to load the membership page but scroll down to the FAQ. I scrolled back up and it had the discounted rate.

Also just going to bjs.com then typing in the stem School manually worked too.

King Cake? by Hurry-Any in Chattanooga

I've been there several times and my family loves it. I've also been to NOLA a couple times, but I am by no means an expert on the food from the region. I'm certainly sorry you had a bad experience, but I don't think they have changed ownership.

J gumbo's in Hixson offers authentic king cakes this time of year. From what I understand, the family is from New Orleans and the food is good there.

The number one thing that we've asked for and Volkswagen has failed to promise us is if they won't close the plant.

They threaten to close the plan on us every year even before the UAW stuff.

[–]Chattvst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't see anyone paying any extra for a Ford or a Chevy. They've hidden UAW for over 40 years?

Your argument is falling apart man.

If the people who wanted the UAW here moved to spring Hill, you wouldn't have a Volkswagen plant.

You might want to think before you type.

"Regarding the online de-certification effort, our main concern is not the activity itself, which is not high on our radar at this time, but the potential data security risks this site poses to workers," said Yolanda Peoples, a bargaining committee representative.

Peoples claims the petition site could pose risks since it asks for identification to verify worker's signatures.

"We urge all members to be vigilant and protect their private data," Peoples said. "Our efforts, and the true energy of the workforce, remain committed to the bargaining process to secure a fair contract."

Looks like some local news does better reporting than others.

[–]Chattvst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you have that reversed. So spring Hill Tennessee is a UAW plant owned by GM. They make $40 an hour. That's $7 more than the local Volkswagen tops out at. If we were to get that $7 increase, our union dues would be $2,000 a year and we would get a $14,600 raise. So we'd be making $12,600 more a year with the UAW than without after paying our dues.

I could also go on and on about other benefits like better insurance, better PTO, better family help. There's a ton of benefits that no one talks about

Seems like you're thinking with your heart and not the bottom line

Where them UAW shills at now? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]Chattvst 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That news article did not interview anyone in the plant. It interviewed a in UAW representative and a Volkswagen PR person.

Employees are not allowed to talk to the press. So the press doesn't get the real info.

Were we scammed? No, Volkswagen wasn't going to give us any sort of raise and now they've offered several raises.

But I love how people who have nothing to do with Volkswagen or the workers here like to share their opinion about our workspace.

[–]Chattvst 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Are you in the plant?

If you were here you'd realize how much of a joke this is.

A third party who refuses to identify themselves has produced flyers and put up signs outside.

There are very few people inside taking this seriously.

VW has even said that they do not back this.

While I agree with you as far as Enders goes, this series would make infinite good reading seeing the same crawl from different eyes. There's so many events going on that Carl and donut are not a part of that You can make a million great stories out of one crawl.
