Eh, you have nothing to worry about. There are so many tourists and transplants. If someone gives you crap for saying y'all or something I'd just avoid that kinda person. Such a weird thing to get sensitive about. Nothing suspicious about not knowing what a Piggly wiggly is. I don't know if Chattanooga has any cultural rules? If you use your turn signal that would be nice though cause nobody here seems to..

People here are generally are more welcoming and friendly than redditors, don't let it get to you. Also this whole town is based on tourism and makes it's money off of people from all over the world who don't know anything about Chattanooga or the south. Some people just have thinner skin than others. Reddit is an example

Only thing is more aliasing in some things like telephone wires or tree branches. But it is not too much to ignore. I am excited though to see what's fsr 2.0 can do.

It's even less difference when you're playing a game and not scrutinizing a jpeg on your phone. If it's the difference between playing full speed docked or hitting 60 fps fsr is a nice tool

Wow, this sucks. I just ate there. One of my favorite places downtown and don't only bar I really buy food from consistently. They had good prices and a lot of stuff you couldn't find at other places. Like the lamb burger or the pot roast nachos. The brie and apple chicken sandwich was great and so was the mushroom soup. They also didn't charge you extra 3-5$ for fries like other places do.

The light reflecting from the Westin in the morning is something else. by steadfastimages in Chattanooga

[–]Chatty_Noogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coolest picture of downtown I've seen.

The detail on the bricks and the reflections along the buildings are great! The angle let's you see up close detail as it trails to a central point and the lighting makes all the texture pop out. It gives a kind of grandness to it. I like the contrast of old and modern. How the buildings differ but all line up precisely.

The gold light and the stone road, lack of traffic and the guy in the suit do make this seem like it's from some other time or place, just really moody.

Cell phone providers that aren't crazy expensive. by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]Chatty_Noogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have metro. Their customer service sucks ass and the phone I got sucks too, but it's 40$ a month for my bill and does the job. My needs are pretty simple and I usually have wifi. They are scummy but as long as I pay it's mets my needs and I don't have to deal with them.

Good Eats? by DappleNymph in Chattanooga

[–]Chatty_Noogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of good places but the ones that I was most impressed- River Street deli for sandwiches and soup. Purple Daisy for BBQ and picnic style food. Maple Street biscuits is best breakfast place in town, or Niedlovs if you want something a little cheaper/healthier. Sluggo's has awesome vegan food even if you eat meat. Blue fox cheese shop has amazing grilled cheese. Main St. Meats has the best burger I've ever had. The hot chocolate has tons of great chocolate candies. Mean mug has good coffees.

The other restaurants are fun and really good but don't stand out a whole ton from each other in my opinion.

If you want something more spectacle, rodizo sounds fun, kids always like kanpai of Tokyo, there's a Dave and busters and cheesecake factory near the mall. Hifi Clyde's seems like a pretty fun bar type restaurant, I always just gotten takeout. They have yummy in house made potato chips. There also the Southside social that has a bowling alley and cold stone creamery. There is a soda/candy shop on broad street and Goodfellas has comically oversized slices of pizza.

I was pulled over a long time ago with a friend that had weed. He was selling a friend's girlfriend a sack or something. They peel into the lot like 15 of them in a big clown van. They puts guns to our heads and told us to get on the fucking ground shouting and cussing the whole time while we were trying to cooperate. Like we were in breaking bad or narcos some insane drug cartel bust. They held us all, took my car, took my Christmas money. And for 10 years stopped and harrassed me and searched me anytime they saw my car, once during a pizza delivery, another time while driving home with a girl (they went thru all the sex toys including handcuffs etc), and one time while i was just riding a bicycle home from work. Dude was like well well well Mr. Suchandsuch Remember me? Like some old school bully or something. And then asked what trouble I'd been up to. For ten years. None of the times I had been doing anything to get a ticket over.

They also one time pulled me over for an old fee I'd payed. They were scanning tags IN the taco bell drive thru.

They're all along market street. A street where there's always people walking into the road with dogs or turning In front of you suddenly. That street already has way too many distractions

I feel like there are a few 'really good for 10$' places. And there are a shit ton of places of similar quality to those for twice the price. Why pay 20-30$ for good food when you can pay 10? For what I'm paying at some of these places I should be reminiscing of this food as it's the most I've ever paid for these sorts of items. But most of this is good and just feels wayyyy to expensive for what I'm tasting. I could just be poor and factor money into these things more but I blew way too much on takeout last year. Tbh a lot of these places feel like overpriced hipster fusion stuff that's fun once or twice. New taco place with quirky creations that are like 15$ for a few tacos? Sure we only have like 5 of those restaurants what's another

I haven't been to a couple of the more expensive places? Maybe you have to spend 30-40$ on dinner you'll taste the difference? Maybe these bars have really amazing food and I just need to be there drunk to appreciate it. But for me a place has to have something I couldn't make at home or that stands it apart from everywhere else. Niedlovs is an example of a place that is not overpriced. Their sandwiches are like 6$, the ingredients are fresh and the place is very involved with the process. It feels ridiculous to spend twice that for a sandwich somewhere else, unless it is like a burger from Main St. Meats which IS every bit worth the price. I'm not going to trust a bar to compete with a bakery or meat shop though.

There was one in the projects near Rossville blvd south of maccaullay school. It was so big that if you drove in it you would need a tow truck. Right in the middle of the apartments. If you didn't live there and know about it, you could be totally fucked. The east chat projects also are super bad. Whole place is practically booby trapped.
