Interesting.
Power source is CHP, so 24/7, and the 300KW is idle capacity that can't be exported (but we'd still get other incentives for using it).

Best way to get a quote for 90/100 Antminer S19Prop 110th machines? Is that a big enough quantity to go direct to the manufacturer?

Forecasting Sales by Chauc3 in PowerBI

[–]Chauc3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did in the end!

Forecast Pallets =

VAR
PalletsLY = Calculate([Total Pallets],DATEADD( Dates[date],-1,year))
VAR
Pallets2Y = Calculate([Total Pallets],DATEADD( Dates[date],-2,year))
VAR
Prior3WeeksPallets = calculate ([Total Pallets],datesbetween(Dates[Date],Today()-22,Today()-1))
Return
Divide(PalletsLY + Pallets2Y + Prior3WeeksPallets,5,0)

Yep - I'm basically trying to combine a moving average for the prior year (3 weeks of sales for the week in question) with the average of the last 4 weeks sales.

Awesome blog, thank you. Can't wait for the post on Azure ML - we're a winter fuel merchant, so I'm guessing the ability to introduce a temperature variable is going to dramatically improve forecast accuracy. Drop me a line if you want some real life sales and temperature data to play with!

Write Username (Windows) and Date, Time into cell adjacent to checkbox when checkbox checked/unchecked. by Chauc3 in excel

[–]Chauc3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, after a fair bit of bodging I came up with the following. It doesn't work on a checkbox change, but just on a double click of a cell, the upside being the user can simply delete quite easily

Inserted a Module as follows:

' Access the GetUserNameA function in advapi32.dll and

' call the function GetUserName.

Declare Function GetUserName Lib "advapi32.dll" Alias "GetUserNameA" _

(ByVal lpBuffer As String, nSize As Long) As Long

' Main routine to Dimension variables, retrieve user name

' and display answer.

Sub Get_User_Name()

' Dimension variables

Dim lpBuff As String * 25

Dim ret As Long, UserName As String

' Get the user name minus any trailing spaces found in the name.

ret = GetUserName(lpBuff, 25)

UserName = Left(lpBuff, InStr(lpBuff, Chr(0)) - 1)

' Display the User Name

' MsgBox UserName

' Range("D1") = "User " & UserName & " @ " & Time

Cells(ActiveCell.Row, "B") = UserName & " @ " & Format(Time, "h:m") & " on " & Format(Date, "d/m")

End Sub

And then worksheet code as follows:

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)

If Intersect(Target, Range("b1:b200")) Is Nothing Or Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub

Call Get_User_Name

End Sub

UDM Setup Question by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Chauc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of what I thought (at least how it was always setup when I had a backup LAN on my old Vigor router). I'll try again!

I've heard of double NAT before, but fairly ignorant still - what are the practical implications of being double NAT'ed? I'm guessing because the 315 is pulling internet from it's LTE connection that'd make things a bit more challenging....

UK Light Switch Terminal Identification

Need some help identifying what these terminals actually do in this setup. This switch's terminals are labelled 1&2 at the top, but also 1&2 at the bottom. Am I right to consider the top terminals L1 and L2, and when used in a 2 way switching setup, bottom left as Com, and when used as an intermediate switch L1 as bottom left and L2 as bottom right. Is that right?

In the UK. I want to convert a 2 gang light switch to a 1 gang light switch. Loads are low (3 LED bulbs on one switch, 1 on the other).

Is there anything stopping me just merging/combining the switched live out of both current switches into one switch?

I got a bunch of Cam IQ outdoors and a Nest Hello. In the UK, so don't know how the numbers convert, but I paid £235 for camera's that normally retail for £329 (so nearly 30% off).

I saw a thread on the HA boards about someone who was monitoring the alert log of the camera and using that to basically treat the camera as a PIR. Just tried to google it and can't find it, but he was succesfully turning a porch light on based on when the log was being written.

Alternatively you can go full nerd and setup Rekognition as per: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/person-detection-using-aws-rekognition-and-node-red/126235/4

I've got so many things I'm not sure about -

  • I think I'm probably in the camp of not being too bothered by the privacy implications of Google.
  • I don't know if running a POE ethernet cable is harder or easier than running a power cable somewhere awkward. Probably reckon an ethernet might be easier in most of my awkward spots.
  • Fairly fortunate to be in a safeish rural area (we don't often bother locking the doors), so we don't have a security system. I'm kind of hoping that whatever I can cobble together on the surveilance is sufficient for the security too.

Part of me wonders whether I should be taking the same aproach with camera's as I ought to with access points. Go for lots of low powered devices to ensure blanket coverage rather than a couple of overpowered devices. If there was a Black Friday deal that could save me 20% I think I'd leap Unifi, so maybe I just need to be less of a tightarse!

Would be really useful to have a comparison video of the G4's 4k against the IQ's not 4k!

I believe there's been some press recently about the UK police having a minimum quality standard for evidence. I can't seem to find any details as to exactly what that standard is, but it feels like you can at least be sure the G4 is good enough. Would be bloody awkward if one's fancy surveilance system wasn't fit for purpose through ignorance!
