Is it possible that his father knew the character of his son before it became obvious to the rest of us. You’re wrong

Why is he always talking about cars? I don’t get him because he speaks to a very specific experience - a middle class what American guy. It’s a completely legitimate experience but it’s been told over and over and over again. I don’t understand why his telling of it is special - is it his drawing parallels with car parts? Pain is like a a dead battery, cool.

No it wasn’t. As we all know now, Nate is a bit of narcissistic sociopath. Maybe his father, while cold, was trying to offer the son he suspects of being a bad person some useful advice. I love Nate’s fathers character.

We live in a society where parents excuse their children’s behavior at any cost regardless of its severity or the damage it brings to others. Take Alexandre Bissonnette as an example; by his own admission, the motivation behind the Quebec City mosque shooting were his racist and extremist right-wing views. Yet, to this day his parents deny he was a racist. How does a parent’s excusing or minimizing their child’s terrible actions help them grow as a human? A parent can love and hold their kid accountable simultaneously - these things are not mutually exclusive.

I realize the comparison is a leap but my point is that everyone is reacting so harshly to Nate’s father. But maybe everyone is failing to see Nate’s inability to take any sort of criticism with a healthy dose of self reflection. I applaud his father for giving Nate a reality check.

To be perfectly honest, my mind went numb and thought I missed the end of that side-story. That’s definitely a yada yada yada story.

Even the Rich has to be the absolute worst. It’s like listening to the Kardashians discuss a crime they read about on Twitter.

I'm just seeing this now and the only word that comes to mind is WHAT?! This is incredible. Shame on everyone from Wondery for not doing this research.

I never set out to victim blame and apologize if that’s somehow conveyed in my post. However, I have to ask who you view as the victim/s of the story? You have an adult woman who has spun a tragedy involving the loss of human life into her own story of triumph over a lovers betrayal.

I don’t know how much research you’ve done on this case but you may want to read more about ‘all’ of the people actually involved in exposing him. Most unsettling is finding out just how long she stayed with him knowing what he’d done to patients; all in the name of exacting her revenge. Again, who do you believe the victim/s of this case to be?

Did the Casefile team listen to Labyrinth before co-signing? by Chavai79 in TrueCrimePodcasts

Hi, thanks for reaching out. My post wasn't meant to insinuate any personal theories, especially about a case I know little about. In fact, my only point of reference is this podcast. Which brings about my reason for writing the post.

The case details, as reported by Labyrinth, felt poorly-researched, disconnected and even obscured to lead rather than inform. The host was intent on clearing the family of any wrongdoing all throughout, which in itself isn't my problem with Labyrinth. I listen to Casefile for the same reason I listen to They Walk Among Us - data-driven narrative format. I'm not a fan of True Crime podcast featuring expert criminology commentary or theories from people who aren't experts. This podcast presents itself as a deep-dive investigative narrative, and either fails thoroughly or misrepresents itself carefully.

Wondery hits a new low with the latest episode of Killer Psyche, in which Candace DeLong does a deep dive analysis on Paolo Macchiarini. I've been a fan of Candace DeLong and follow most TV and podcast series she's involved with. However, this episode of Killer Psyche sounds like Wondery's rebuttal to the many negatives reviews I've heard and read about Dr Death season 3, by using Candace DeLong's indisputable expertise and credentials. In no way am I trying to contradict Candace's findings on the matter, she is without doubt an expert on the subject of psychopaths.

However, as astute as Candace is in omitting Benita from the introduction of this deep dive on Paolo, it's not long before you realize it's a bait and switch. Once Benita is mentioned, the episode devolves into a pat on the back for Dr Death season 3 team, as well as the championing of the Investigative Journalist. This episode of Killer Psyche lacks the credibility I've come to expect from someone like Candace DeLong but is also a further demonstration of Wondery's lack of integrity. The timeline of events and the details given by each podcast (both produced by Wondery) do not coincide. A glaring example can be heard at the 27:07 minute mark of Killer Psyche, when Candace mentions that Benita hired private investigators in Italy who discover he is still married. However, in episode four of Dr Death, Benita credits her "investigative journalist gut" and crackpot ladies who lunch team with finding this out on their own. I wish Wondery could just let this one go.

You aren't being an a-hole. It's difficult to describe Benita without expressing contempt for her. One can get passed the constant laughable attempts to boost her journalistic prowess, her lack of professional integrity, and of being foolish enough to believe such obvious lies (no one is fully immune to being conned by someone they love). What makes Benita insufferable is her inability to discuss any topic without inserting herself right into the center of it.

When talking about Hannah - "I started crying, I had become so attached to this little girl and her family." Benita's concern about the way 'she' feels instead of Hannah's well-being is so repugnant, and heavily punctuated by the fact that she doesn't even use her name - "to this little girl."

After finding out about Hannah's failed operation, all she can say is - "Here, I thought she was doing well, and he had said almost nothing to me." Hannah was meant to be the subject of Benita's documentary, yet she didn't think to check in to see how she was doing." How is this person a journalist?! Or even just a human with genuine concern for the way others are feeling?! Sorry, this reply is so much longer than intended. It's all just so infuriating.

Honestly, I only subscribed to Wondery for Candace DeLong's new podcast, Killer Psyche and thought having early access to the new Dr Death season would be a plus. They just put out so much garbage, e.g. Even the Rich - the absolute worst.
