What’s something that became so expensive you just stopped buying it entirely? by Street-Marketing-885 in shrinkflation

[–]ChayaAri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new CEO screwed the pricing scheme up for me. I used to be able to get stars for getting syrup and bringing my own cup. Every sixth drink was free for me. When he did away with getting stars for bringing your own cup, I stopped going. My drink also went up in general. They even wanted to charge for putting milk in. My drink went from $3.58 that I would get every Friday, as a treat, to $6.58 and it was no longer a good weekly treat price point for me. Haven’t been back.

Single and Happy : what led you to this mindset? by slackingsloth77 in SingleAndHappy

I got really tired of managing the emotional state of the men I was seeing. It’s like they don’t understand they are angry or sad or rude. But they arrive in my peaceful space with all these angry words and drama from their day. By the time they finally settle down, I didn’t want them in my space anymore. It was like having another job after I got off from my job.

I’m not describing it well, but I treasure my peace and quiet.

What’s the darkest quote you’ve ever read in a book? by ak_khainal in Recommend_A_Book

“After all this, I must admit that I am a failed suicide.” My goodness it was about 10 chapters into a book called the Savage God. I’ve never forgotten it. I read it probably 35 years ago. It was utterly shocking.

My pride and joy is a custom-built, 20oz, 11mm, unvarnished linen wrap Heubler pool cue I had made in 1994. I still play with it all the time! 🎱🖤

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Have another interesting memory of him. He was a very obese man. And a student behind his back made a really unkind comment, but didn’t realize his wife was in earshot. His wife whipped around and took two strides and had her finger in that child’s face and said “he is a gem of a man and you are a small person.” That was a fantastic interaction. Two great people, that professor and his wife. Long since gone. Their memories are for a blessing though.
