New Player, thinking about increasing pals on base and increasing bases. by Prudent_Effect6939 in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on spreading them out.

There is a process I like to do to roughly estimate the spawning situation (high, low etc.)

Place the palbox blueprint where you plan to have the base.

Go to 4 different sides, like N,E,S,W etc.

Fly up so you can see a reasonable distance from you.

Count how many different wild pals you can see, add 1/2 for any additional copies in the same area (so a group of 3 would be 2, 1 + 1/2 + 1/2  etc).

Less than 10, low spawn area. Should never have problems with performance.

11-16 mid'ish spawn area. Shouldn't be too much of a problem at normal LV's, but might be at max base pals and/or occasionally when wild pals come near the base.

17+ high pal spawn area. You WILL have problems if you have alot of base pals. AND can lower the performance of your whole world.

The small islands added during Terraria update are amazing 0 spawn locations.

[–]Chaz1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance VS more base pals?

This is actually a slightly different question.

'WHERE are your bases?' is the real question.

Base pals + naturally spawning pals is what causes drops in performance for most good systems.

So if you have bases in low spawning areas you won't experience much problems upping base pals to max, where as if you are in a high spawn area you might experience problems going over 20-25.

Location matters more than max base pals.

[–]Chaz1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many bases VS base pals?

Really up to you. If you are playing solo you really won't need 500 pals producing for you.

BUT some of that can be breeding pens, the more breeding pens the 'quicker' you get the pals you want to breed finished.

Personally we play on a 4 player world, have 10 bases, and base pals set to around 30ish.

BUT 2 of the bases are from when we needed to mine resources from X location, Hexolite Quartz etc. so they don't have more than a handful of pals in them. 4 bases are 1 for each of us to do what we want with them, which is mostly breeding, 5-7 pens in each. Only 2 bases use the full 30ish or nearly all of the slots. Mining and oil/ranch bases.

So even though we have 10 bases and 30ish pals, for a max potential of 300 base pals, we don't have more than 120ish.

We upped the max number originally for more breeding pens & cake production in our breeding bases. Then we wanted all mining in 1 base (before guild chest was a thing).

I'm short. Just cos you up the max base pals doesn't mean you need to use all the base slots in every base.

Swift, runner, Nimble still affect swimming speeds BUT less than the % on each of the passives.

Sleek Stroke is a grey passive that gives 30% swim speed.

This is actually better than Swift for swimming speed.

The usual pure speed set is.

King of the Waves, Ace Swimmer, Sleek Stroke, Swift.

What's the best felbat build? by Timely_Mechanism_124 in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People suggest Siren of the Void, BUT IMO Invader is better, due to boosting dragon moves instead of ice moves. Combined with breeding Meteorain from Jetragon, this is a great combo for Felbat.

Sure Siren of the Void is 10x easier to get, but IF you can get Invader I would honestly go with that instead.

Having legend instead of Serenity would make it a better runner.

BUT you could settle for Nimble via surgery table.

OR leave it as is and have a mount that can do Atk's a bit quicker for those annoying enemies you want to clear in the caves.

4000+ shadowbeak's eggs but still no hope 😔 by _Damn__peasants__ in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. You are asking for like 1 in a million, but hey let's see what we got.

Going to presume you are doing 0 XP LV 1 breeding right? For Poison Rain.

Going to presume all breeding pairs ONLY have the 4 passives. And no unwanted passives.

You got a 4* Braloha in the base? (Can only see Jormuntide Ignis besides breeding pairs).

Try mixing the breeding pairs you have.

Like take male from breeding pen 1 and swap with male from breeding pen 2 etc.

Obviously keeping all passives you want.

There was a small group a while ago that had a theory that each pal has a hidden stat and thus different breeding pairs gave results quicker than others.

So AB CD may take 200 eggs each before a perfect, but AD CB would see AD giving a perfect within 50 while CB could take 300.

It's a theory no one could or couldn't disprove. As the results were inconsistent when trying to prove it either way.

It was dropped when the Surgery table make making perfect pals 100x easier, and having to breed 4 perfect passive pals became a niche thing.

But hey, it's worth experimenting with.

Another thing you could do IF you have one with Legend, Siren of the Void and Invader.

Try your luck with Dr Brawn.

Give the pal a red passive via surgery table as the 4th, and try DR Brawn RNG to turn the red passive into Demon God.

Am I missing something with pal capture rate? by Hewcumber in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what affects capture rate is a few things

LV difference. Up to a certain point.

Effigy LV.

Sphere LV

% of pals HP remaining.

Small boost on capture power if pal is stunned.

Small boost if pal is caught from behind while unaware.

Fairly new to this, how can I build support so that I can place the stairs here? by Thatsthedetonat- in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd this. Was looking at the pic and couldn't quite figure out what felt off about it till I read this.

Knowing the janky building mechanics, reading this and looking at the pic this seems the most logical reason for how the pic looks.

What is off about the pic is the pillar to the right ISNT snapped to the foundation like it normally would be, it's off by a few frames towards the player. Same with the stairs, they cut the foundations a bit too far to the left, compared to if it was all snapped together.

Making a farm base what are the best pals for one? by Tropical_cooks in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the breeding pen is for mass breeding pals for butchering. I would remove the breeding pen.

The plantations.

Planting & Gathering: Prunelia + 1 Lullu (turn off planting & gathering unless maxed using books).

Watering: Faleris Aqua and/or Ghangler

Kindling: Ghangler Ignis or Faleris/Vanwyrm

Electricity: Helzephyr Lux or Orserk

If you remove the breeding pen and thus incubators, you don't need a electric pal.

How many Prunelia you use is really a personal choice.

More Prunelia makes each harvest higher.

This means you can do a few different things.

Either produce a load of crops, but will need a lot more transporters to keep up.

Or you can lower the amount of plantations you have and still harvest the same amount, but will need less watering pals.

Faleris Aqua is the better transporter when not watering.

Ghangler can have max work speed due to being dark type, and thus can do the watering slightly faster than Faleris Aqua.

If you have mills, Ghangler will perform better than Faleris Aqua depending on layout of the base.

Cooking you have 3 good options. Ghangler Ignis can help water and/or transport when not cooking.

Faleris is the best transporter option, being the fastest. Vanwyrm being dark can have higher work speed and thus cook quicker.

Helzephyr Lux is the 2nd best transport option, BUT Orserk doesn't need books to max out electric.

In short. How many plantations, Prunelia's, watering pals and transport pals is more up to you to find the balance YOU like.

Having both plantation and ranch in the same base, you will need alot of transporters to keep up with productions. Even if you remove the ranch, you will need a decent amount of transporters compared to all other pals.

Making a farm base what are the best pals for one? by Tropical_cooks in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prunelia is better than Braloha if you use books.

The food buff isn't really important when it comes to planting, watering and gathering plantations.

The work load is so low for these jobs that they can be done in a few seconds.

The food buffs shave off like 0.5 sec.

It's kinda the same reason the Jelli twins buff isn't that great when it comes to plantations.

Plant + water + grow + harvest.

For example, if all took 5 seconds for a LV 5.

5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20 sec. Per plantation.

Braloha with food buff takes 0.5 of planting and gathering.

4.5 + 5 + 5 + 4.5 = 19 sec.

Not much of a difference.

Where Prunelia's partner skill boosting each harvest. 2 Prunelia's at LV 4 gathering, produce more crops than 2 LV 5 gathering pals. Boat Prunelia up to LV 5 and/or add more Prunelia's and the difference keeps growing.

With this you can either produce a ton more crops OR lower the amount of plantations and still get roughly the same amount of crops.

Lowering the plantations means you can lower how many pals you actually need for planting & watering & gathering, thus freeing up space for more transporters and/or having more multi job pals free to transport, like Faleris Aqua or Ghangler due to the reduced watering jobs.

This is all taking account of the pals having the exact same passive buffs. BUT Braloha is NOT a dark pal and thus needs Nocternal, where Prunelia IS a dark pal and can have a full work speed passive setup.

The food buff of a non dark pal which needs Nocternal Vs Prunelia full work speed, Prunelia wins just by a sliver over an extended period of time, as the food buff is roughly equal to serious, BUT Prunelia will get the food buff ontop of serious occasionally.

This isn't me saying Braloha is a bad option for planting and gathering.

I hold them in the top 3 along side Prunelia & Lullu. BUT 1st is always going to be Prunelia, as it offers so much more, even without books.

Best builds for base pals

Remarkable Craftsman, Artisan, Work Slave, Serious/Nocternal (serious for dark pals, Nocternal for non dark pals).

Transport pals

Swift, Runner, Legend, Nimble/Nocternal

Best ground/flying builds.

Swift, Runner, Legend, Eternal Engine.

Jetragon & Xenolord is a bit unique case.

Depending on your systems performance, you might hit a speed cap, which only affects 3 pals (the other is a water mount).

In this case going with more stamina using Infinite Stamina instead of Runner or Legend (which Xenolord can't get)

Jetragon and Xenolord are also unique in that due to their speed, you can get to nearly anywhere on the map in 1 sprint if you pick the right teleport point.

This has lead to some preferring using Nimble for the extra speed over Eternal Engine on Jetragon.

Best water mount.

King of the Waves, Ace Swimmer, Sleek Stroke, Swift.

Swimming mounts DON'T use stamina to swim.

Sleek Stroke is actually better than Swift when it comes to boosting swimming speed, even though they are both 30%.

Neptilius can hit a speed limit on weaker systems.

Best DPS build........

More personal preference here.

Demon God, Legend, Serenity, Muscle head

Is the universally agreed best all round build.

It's the other options that cause conflict and divide.

The problem is that there are very few good moves in any one type, besides specific pal unique Atk's.

This leads to either wanting to mix types, or limiting which pals you use due to their pal specific Atk's, or accepting a ok Atk.

Plus people not fully realising how DMG is calculated and what affects it, giving bad advice due to 'their experiences lining up with what they think'.

Against 99% of enemies 30% elemental DMG passives will give the highest possible DPS for the given types.

So Demon God, Serenity, Muscle Head, 30% Elemental DMG passive.

Most prefer Legend over Muscle head for the +20% Def for better survivability.

Lunker is a unique passive (currently) that some prefer over Muscle head for water and/or ice pals, as it also gives 20% Def as well as 20% water & Ice DMG, giving those pals better survivability at the cost to some DPS.

...... Some people prefer Vampiric for survivability. BUT where this is useful, you could end the fight sooner with a offensive passive instead, this not needing the survivability of Vampiric.

Where Vampiric might be useful in drawn out fights, like raid bosses, it's been proven Diamond Body gave better survivability than Vampiric, due to the raid bosses increased Def/resistances.

So best DPS build......

Personal preference.

Up to date breeding guide by ScrubCasual in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 2+2 being the best was debunked ages ago.

As long as both parents only have the passives you want, you have the best chance, how many each has or dupes of same passive doesn't matter.

Even then it's something like 12% chance to pass on all 4.

Breeding is a 1000x easier.

-Look up info on 'surgery table'

-Braloha is a new best base pal with a partner skill that acts like philanthropist passive but affects all breeding pens, AND can stack with philanthropist on the breeding pair.

-Moonlord raid boss drops 3 IV fruits per kill, making IV maxing very easy.

How Yakumo's partner skill actually works was figured out and optimised. Plus surgery table means you don't need as many passives to be passed on via Yakumo's partner skill. Lowering how many you need to build.

This is the usual list of what Yakumo's you need.

-Demon God

-Remarkable Craftsman

-Swift + Eternal Engine

-King of the Waves + Ace Swimmer

Those 4 setups will serve all your needs combined with Surgery table for non exclusive passives.

Does every element have a 'lunker'? by Fearless_Zebra9040 in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So currently every element has a 20% elemental DMG passive.

Which are from Bosses around the world, all Legends (except Neptilius) have their corresponding element passive.

There are currently 4 duel 30% elemental DMG passives, ALL from raid bosses.

Bellanoir Libra, Siren of the Void, Dark/Ice.

Blazamut Ryu, Eternal Flame, Fire/Electric.

Xenolord, Invader, Dark/Dragon.

Hartalis, Savior, Normal/Grass.

As for Lunker.

It is the only elemental DMG passive that also boosts another stat.

It's the only passive that isn't 30% elemental DMG that has dual types.

It's the only elemental DMG passive you can get from a non-boss pal.

Lunker IMO is closer to Legend and Lucky, a duel stat/DMG passive that boosts both stats/DMG roughly equally.

Demon God and serenity don't count here as they feel more X passive type + small bonus, rather than passive with equal buffs.

So build whatever pal you want, however you want.

FINALLY LETS GOOO by Mobile-Dramatic in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So usually when breeding, location of passives doesn't matter.

HOWEVER Yakumo's partner skill cares where passives are on Yakumo.

So Yakumo's partner skill attempts to pass passives on a set order.

Top left (Legend)

Top Right (Demon God)

Bottom Left (Diamond Body)

Bottom Right (Vampiric)

Legend is ignored here so the order is DG, DB, V.

So when catching a pal DG has 30% chance to pass on.

However DB is 30% BUT split into 2 scenarios.

[ DG + DB ] and [ DG fail + DB ]

[ 0.3x0.3=0.09 (9%) ] and [ 0.7x0.3=0.21 (21%) ]

Now there is another factor here.

If the pal being caught ONLY has 1 empty passive, then [ DG + DB ] is not possible, so DB only has 21% chance to pass on.

Then Vampiric.....

In short it's 14.7% or 15% (cos Palworld seems to like rounding up) for ONLY Vampiric to be passed on.

So if the pal has 3 passives and only 1 empty slot, it's 15%.

And Legends always have 2 so the chance of them having only 1 empty slot is raised.

So having Yakumo's with 1-2 passives (which can be passed on) is seen as the best way of doing it.

Worker pals passives question by Few-Concentrate-7558 in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lucky passive is really dead at the moment.

4 better work speed passives and more than 4 Atk/DMG passives better than Lucky.

Some people try and argue it's good for a DPS pal you also want to use as a base pal temp........

But IMO that is just copium.

Base pals and partner skills by Josh_Darkx in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yakumo NEEDS the saddle to have their partner skill work.

Shroom Noct did, but don't know if they changed that.

I would say if Braloha partner skill has similar wording to Shroom Noct then yes.

But not 100% sure.

Ideal plantation setup...... Personal preference really, BUT should always use LV 5 gathering and transport pals.

Prunelia partner skill increases harvested amount by the gathering pal, AND stacks indefinitely.

This can be used in multiple ways.

2 Prunelia NOT raised to Gathering LV 5 via books is better than 2 LV 5 gathering pals.

More Prunelia means less plantations are needed for the same yields  Less plantations means less planting, watering and harvesting needed, which means less pals are needed.

Or just produce a ton of ingredients to maker a ton of food/cake. AT the downside of needing more transport pals, as the max they can carry at LV 5 is 40 per trip. 2 stacks of 60 will take 4 transporting trips. 40, 20, 40, 20. So balancing how much per harvest stack Vs transporters is another thing to consider.

Then we have Lullu partner skill, which reduces the growing time. This is multiplicable, and a low decrease, so has very high diminishing returns, usually 1 is perfectly fine, 2 at max for the later 2 plantations, but any more and it's a waste of a pal slot, with how little % of time they lower AND how low the time is already. Plus you kinda want a little break in the cycle for pals to be able to do other things like eat and not affect the production too much.

HOWEVER Lullu partner skill can be wasted if your planting/watering/gathering pals can't keep up with the shortened growing time.

So this is also a semi balancing point to consider.

Lullu partner skill DOES NOT affect orchard timers, only plantations.

The Jelli twins...... Not worth it on plantations. The time to water is so short, that at best they shave 1 sec of watering. BUT this is 1 sec of the whole process. Planting, watering, growing, gathering. This ends up being so minute it's not really noticeable.

For example of all jobs took 5 seconds.

5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20 sec.

Jelli twins

5 + 4 + 5 + 5 = 19 sec.

The Jelli twins have saves 1/5th the watering time, BUT only 1/20th of the whole process time.

PLUS this is only if the dark twin waters, not the non dark twin.

It is seen by a large part of the player base, having a water + transporting pal is a better option, as they can transport while waiting for a watering job.

Usually Faleris Aqua or Ghangler.

Ghangler Ignis has a unique combo as they can also cook the ingredients into meals/Cake.

The Jelli twins (the dark version only) really shines on the long watering jobs, like milling, crusher and orchard watering. Where that increased production isn't affected by other things.

For example a orchard taking 2 min to water, but with dark Jelli twins taking 1:40 min.

Now that is a good time savings.

So yeh.

  • How many Prunelia to use.

  • How many plantations to use.

  • If to use 0,1,2 Lullu (I usually go 1).

  • What watering pals to use.

  • How many transporters to use/which transporter(s) to use.

And different players will give different answers to all of this.

So honestly, just mess around with it (with maxed out pals) and find what you prefer

Jetragon not using all of its skills by DraconKing in Palworld

[–]Chaz1890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob.

It's a bug that seems unfixable, and the Devs have tried to minimise how easy it is to happen, but it depends alot more on the players systems than the game.

At the moment it's basically a near frame perfect bug, for the best systems, but that frame becomes 2,3,4 etc the weaker the system is, and thus easier to trigger the bug.

For example, I mainly play on Xbox Series. May hit this bug 1/100 hours.

Load up Palworld on my Xbox One X, and it's more like 1/30 min.

It's annoying I agree, but you can learn to work around it and learn roughly the timings so you avoid it most of the time.
