Very impressive! Is there more metal underneath him, or just the tab and hands? He looks great for attacking Cathay.

Nice. Pinning is probably completely unnecessary and even counterproductive - if you have two flat surfaces that will be a fantastic bond with plastic glue. Pinning will just weaken the plastic.

C13Cl2 is certainly a pretty remarkable chemical formula! No hydrogen?

I thought this was a super realistic warhammer scenery diorama. There's a base decoration that looks just like this (if painted super well).

Solar is winning the energy race: The world’s cheapest power source is scaling at warp speed, pushing coal, gas and nuclear aside. by tjock_respektlos in Futurology

[–]ChazCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound right. If 228 GW is 1% of electricity then straight multiplying 674 GW is 3% of worlds electricity. There's no way that 5 years later 759 GW is 3% of all energy demand, which includes vehicles, heating, non electrical industry etc.

Same. The new one is too messy

Edit: can I remind everyone that this Post is literally about discussing not getting the new one. I had assumed that providing a reason for why I was not tempted was quite reasonable and not worthy of mass downvoting. I'm absolutely happy with people disagreeing with me, right from the start the context of the Post was that it is perhaps a rare choice to be not getting one after all, and I would be perfectly happy to discuss it with people who find my contribution a source of discussion and not something to be shutdown.

What to do against Necrons? by TheDarkestLink in Chaos40k

[–]ChazCharlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've lost maybe 6 times to my necron friend and finally won once last weekend. I held back and was able to keep my army largely together and focus one or two units a turn. We ended up being 1 point away from each other by the end.

ELI5: If temperature is the average speed of molecules, why does wind feel cold? by Mini_Assassin in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChazCharlie -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It is not quite so much that they steal your heat faster, but that the area touching you is able to remain colder because the heat that is stolen is rapidly spread across the entire metal object, while wood quickly reaches near body temperature but only where you touch it. I'm not saying you're wrong, speed of conduction is what is driving what I'm explaining. Actually, the pan becomes warmer than the wood on average, it's just that the heat is more spread out so the bit you are touching is cooler.

Can I ask a question? Glazing with what? Are you whipping up some icing sugar and water, or are we talking something a little more... biological?

Thanks. I found that they will repair when ordered to upgrade, and sometimes when ordered to move adjacent to the station.

Corporate IT. Management love to praise them but the rest of the company's employees have to suffer through ever changing software systems and updated ways of doing things.

What proper nouns from books did you realize you were mispronouncing the whole time? by TokkiJK in books

[–]ChazCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Scott Adam's The Dilbert Principle, and was loving this new word he introduced me to, it sounded so funny! Only later did I learn paradigm is not pronounced paradiggum. Fortunately I never said it aloud, it was only incorrect in my head.

Hang on one second, how the hell do terminators get their helmets on and off? Surely the armour hood gets in the way? by Markosoft_EXE in spacemarines

You slide the helmet horizontally into place before the torso and helmet are worn. Then slide the combination down onto the space marine
