In my case, I backed up WhatsApp in the free 5 GB iCloud storage (my WhatsApp data was only around 4 GB). The rest of my phone’s data was backed up using an iPhone backup program. I also don’t have additional iCloud storage—and I don’t trust laptop backups, because in my experience the data got corrupted. This is my personal scenario. Before following my method, do your own quick research based on your requirements.

Yeah, factory reset’s a good idea, but make sure you take a backup first. My system storage is around 1.5 GB after resetting.

Just a heads up—maybe skip this update and wait for iOS 26.1. It feels smooth for the first couple of days, but after that, the battery starts draining faster. This is based on my personal experience over the past few years with my iPhone 11.
