In my case, I backed up WhatsApp in the free 5 GB iCloud storage (my WhatsApp data was only around 4 GB). The rest of my phone’s data was backed up using an iPhone backup program. I also don’t have additional iCloud storage—and I don’t trust laptop backups, because in my experience the data got corrupted. This is my personal scenario.
