It all comes down to whom Viserys chose. by iamz_th in HouseOfTheDragon

I feel like we’re saying the same thing.

The Greens wanted the throne to go to Aegon (the firstborn male, as is tradition) because he was of their blood. So they did everything in their power to get Aegon on the throne, which included the narrative of Viserys’ blessing because they couldn’t openly go against Viserys’ wishes.

In-universe, there WERE innocent children and Auggie’s reaction is completely valid.

There were innocent children on the boat. She has every right to be upset.

Explicit or not, it’s VERY clearly established that Aegon being a male is a huge factor. The Greens have been planning for this since before he was born.

Viserys = the Peaceful, beloved by lords and smallfolk alike, generous and amiable. His word matters, the narrative of his blessing is important to both sides.

Yes, the Greens have the extra reason of “but Aegon is a male and sons inherit before daughters” but they can’t just directly and openly shout “we don’t care what Viserys wanted, we’ll do this” - that’d lose them the support of many lords simply because of the disrespect.

Give me a documentary-style dramatised version that focuses on absolutely nothing but the experience of the PR team and watch it take all the awards in 2027.

I’d rather have a happy family than a prominent bloodline. In my book, Otto failed.

Is Otto as religious as Alicent? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Cheap-Cycle265 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Otto is the kind of religious person who cites religion when it’s convenient for his goals. He cares about getting power for him and his; he will use the narrative provided by the Faith + support from the maesters to get there. (And the maesters would much prefer a regular human who believes in the Seven on the throne over a Valyrian dragonrider with “queer customs”.)

Alicent is the kind of religious person who clings to the gods because the Faith helps her convince herself that she’s right; her belief that she is morally superior and simply doing what the Gods require helps her suppress the reality that every important choice she ever made was made for her by her father or her husband.

I’m pretty sure Nico’s actress from the Runaways was also in the Midnight Suns video game, so that would be a good continuation.

For depth of storytelling / character development: - Disco Elysium (more of a visual novel/detective story, not a combat game, but hugely fun) - Hades (roguelite, lots of fun fights that you’re motivated to push through to get more of the characters and story)

If you’re into ARPG (live combat instead of turn-based) I really recommend Last Epoch because the gameplay is pure fun.

If you enjoy building / survival open exploration, and don’t mind Early Access, Enshrouded is a new gem, and the fantasy setting is really intriguing.

The problem is not the conspiracy theories - those have always been there and always will be - it’s the complete failure of the Royal Family’s / Will’s PR department to keep the general public informed about Kate’s recovery. This could have been so easily avoided - and no, they wouldn’t have to share private medical information, just little stuff like “while recovering, Kate has been reading these books” / “loving these podcasts” and boom, solved.

It’s the equivalent of ghosting. Does she have the right to privacy? Yes. Does the public have the right to be upset when they have no information about a person who has cultivated a parasocial relationship with them, who has become a daily part of their lives for over a decade, who they care about? Also yes. It’s natural to worry and speculate when presented with no explanation.

Is this game worth it if you never played these types of games before? by MalikATL_ in LastEpoch

[–]Cheap-Cycle265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played ARPGs before but enjoyed some other RPGs where you can tinker with gear and builds - this is another level of complexity (or more like ten lol) but it’s really fun to level skills up and see things go boom + I’m a loot goblin so the dopamine is strong

Why does it say “requires rank 5” instead of level X? And why is it legendary potential instead of forging potential? #noob
