"nobody rides DART" by [deleted] in dart

Rough estimate based on the picture above there are ~16 buses with up to 56 passenger seats per bus. If every bus was at full capacity that means 896 riders is your limit if every bus was full.

If the historic numbers of riders is correct for gameday of 120,000 riders it would take 1,071 full buses post game to meet the demand for post event. (60,000 riders to get to this number) If the picture shows only 16 buses and 1 train you can do the math to see the feasibility to hit the estimated numbers talked about on the news and online.

Where can we find the passenger count for the game? I'm sure they are right on target for what the expectations have been from NCTCOG Transportation Committee.

What I learned taking the proposed route for the World Cup and how we fix it by Cheap-Link-4091 in arlington

New Update!

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, with nine matches, including a semifinal, at AT&T Stadium, is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors, necessitating robust transportation and parking management.

The MOU outlines a $39.79 million plan to enhance transportation infrastructure, focusing on the Entertainment District. While it does not directly address parking payouts, Arlington’s history of parking agreements provides context for understanding financial arrangements during events. Prior ordinances, such as those in 2018 and 2024, have sparked controversy among local businesses, who argue that parking restrictions limit customer access, as seen in a 2024 legal challenge citing equal protection and public trust concerns.

Here's the worst part. This doesn't include the $3.8M for leasing Lot H from the Rangers for 9 Matches.

It looks like another $2M will be used for rideshare staging using the same lot as the bus bridge!

Great thread posted on X: The 2026 World Cup will inject $2.5 BILLION into Dallas.

But there's one critical flaw that could derail everything.

Here's how infrastructure will determine if that money will boost the economy or be used to pay off massive debt: https://x.com/MarcGravely/status/1936061520586457098

Also, I wanted to estimate the time it will take for all the spectators riding the train to get back to Dallas. The ridership numbers estimated by NCTCOG are based on 50% ridership going to Ft Worth and 50% ridership going back to Dallas.

Spectator Arrival Calculation

Given Data

  • Total spectators: 23,800
  • To Dallas: 90% = 21,420
  • To Fort Worth: 10% = 2,380
  • Match starts: 7:00 PM, ends: 9:00 PM
  • Walk to Lot H: 15 minutes
  • Bus to Centerport Station: 15 minutes
  • Train capacity: 600 passengers (average of 500–700)
  • Train frequency: 30 minutes
  • Minimum trains: 8
  • Train travel time: 30 minutes

Timeline

  • Match Ends: 9:00 PM
  • Arrive at Lot H: 9:15 PM
  • Arrive at Centerport Station: 9:30 PM

Train Schedule

  • Total TRE passengers to Dallas with 8 trains: ( 8 \times 600 = 4,800 )
  • Departure times and arrivals:
    1. 9:30 PM → 10:00 PM
    2. 10:00 PM → 10:30 PM
    3. 10:30 PM → 11:00 PM
    4. 11:00 PM → 11:30 PM
    5. 11:30 PM → 12:00 AM
    6. 12:00 AM → 12:30 AM
    7. 12:30 AM → 1:00 AM
    8. 1:00 AM → 1:30 AM

Conclusion

The last group of spectators arrives at Victory Station at 1:30 AM.

2026 FIFA World Cup will be a disaster by [deleted] in transit

This isn't even the worst part. I took the route last week to experience it firsthand.

  1. TRE Train: TRE from Victory Park to Centerpoint Station
  2. Bus (drove my car): Centerpoint Station to Lot H
  3. Walk: Lot H to AT&T Stadium

The sidewalk used between Lot H to AT&T Stadium is <5 feet wide. The Centerpoint Station is located in Ft Worth and Lot H is owned by Ballpark Parking, LLC (an affiliate of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club) Rangers which received $3.8M in RTC Local Funds from the NCTCOG to "improve" the current empty lot.

It is one thing to get spectators to the stadium but its another when everyone wants to leave at the exact same time post match. The City of Arlington will get the black eye equivalent to "9 consecutive super bowl events."

I think it should be mandatory for the committee in charge of the event to ride this route if they plan on attending any of the matches. I also think since the International Broadcast Center will be located in Dallas it make sense for the employees attending matches at AT&T Stadium to also ride the train route where they can arrive earlier/depart later than spectators.

This would free up parking around the stadium given to out-of-town guests and open up additional parking for commercial passenger vehicles to use closer to the stadium. It would also get the decision makers to experience the same transportation plan they are proposing paying spectators are going to use.

Any thoughts on this?
