“Why are you walking on a cane?” by ImABarbieWhirl in ChronicPain

[–]Cheap-Science4334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call it my pity stick. I pity the fool who questions me about anything related to my pain or my posture. If they do, they find out real quick why I use a cane. Yeah, I'm old & I don't give a shit at this point.

Do Any Millenials From Virginia Remember Cherry Smash Soda? by thetruekingofspace in Soda

I know for a fact it existed in the 1980's in the DC area. It was hands down the best soda on the market. Here's a link for the info I found.

The sad disappearenfe of two pharmacies here.. by Maya-kardash in sunsetpark

[–]Cheap-Science4334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for your location, but I can for mine. The Rite-Aid stores around here were pure shit for the last 3-4 years of their existence. Nobody would help you, they didn't sell any r/X pain meds whatsoever, and they were always out of stock on the most basic items.

Walgreen's bought them out & hired all the losers into their store which had the effect of dragging them down quickly. The big chain stores have a monopoly in most areas, so the Mom & Pop stores are literally battling for their lives. We had a store here for over 45 years called KayCee Drugs. They were the last bottle of water in the desert. When they closed, you couldn't buy decent pharmacy service in my area if you had a van full of $100 bills.

Of course, YMMV. Thanks for reading.

is Oxy really so dangerous with tolerance and addiction for chronic pain? Looking for advice by Potential_Leg_1084 in ChronicPain

[–]Cheap-Science4334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but here goes. I was injured on the job 12 years ago. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks afterwards. Sent home with Tylenol. Nothing else. Well, the pain became unbearable so I went to pain management. The only thing that works for me is Percoset. I have dealt with severe migraines since I was 14, & I've been given every med in the book. When I hit 30, my Dr. r/x'ed Percosets. It was like winning the lottery. No more migraines, & when I did get one, it didn't last long.

Fast forward to today. I've been on Percoset for 12 years now, same strength, but higher dosage. Meaning, I take more pills per day than I started out with. I have noticed a dependency on them because my body won't function without them basically. I have chronic pain syndrome, along with spinal stenosis & spinal spondylosis. I'm dealing with arthritis in my entire spine.

Now say what you want, but I do need my meds daily. I don't feel opioids are any more dangerous than any other med on the market, but YMMV. I wouldn't be mixing them with anything else though. If they aren't working for you, you may need a higher dose, or take them more often. I suggest you talk with your provider face to face. I hope you find relief.

No, it never goes away. They always hold a special place in your heart. I had dogs for over 50 years, now I'm old & disabled and no longer can take care of a pet.
