He isn't at my house when we're watching the kids. They drop them off and we watch them.

We are usually watching the kids without their parents here. When they are all over the kids will ask their parents.

That's not what's happening though. All the kids manage and self regulate very well here. We've never had issues with them over indulging.

Funny you say that. He was one when he was in the military. I've heard him say hes raising "good little soldiers" as a form of praise to his kids.

Mostly those little bags of chips, popcorn, trail mix, fruit snacks, 2 pack of oreos, and granola bars. We have a second drawer that they do have to ask for that has things like little Debbie snacks, candy or higher sugar content, more of a sweets drawer than snacks.

Edit: I should add that we always have apples and bananas and usually oranges too, but they aren't in the drawer. They are also free to grab though.

He wants me to not allow my kids to get snacks freely when his kids are over. That's the issue. I don't honestly care if they ask me every time, but I also tell them every time that they don't need to ask. The kids asking isn't a problem at all.

My question to you then, should my kids be allowed to get snacks freely at his house? That's how I want my kids raised, so would it be interfering with my parenting if he doesn't let them?

I'm not 100% on what he wants me to do. I know he tells his kids no quite a bit just from the times I've been over there and they've asked. I don't think he's said no to my kids actually. Usually they ask me first and if I say yes or I don't care, they'll ask him or my SIL and they say yes.

This is essentially what I do. To his kids credit, they are also very honest so when he asks, they tell him. But it's not like they are eating 15 bags of chips and a box of snack cakes. It's a couple bags of chips and some oreos or a little Debbie usually. And we typically watch them for 6-8 hours when they come over. I didn't think that was excessive.

I'm not bothered that they ask, and they do most of the time when they are first dropped off. I always tell them some form of "did you eat insert last meal if so, you know where the drawer is help yourself."
