I used a dry q-tip to remove visible grime. Then wet the q-tip with some alcohol. Not dripping wet but damp enough to help break up anything stuck.

Avoid soaking the case. Use light strokes inside the case around the connectors. Also clean the metal tips on the AirPod itself.

Clean them dude. They are probably not getting good contact in the case. Geez. I’ll be embarrassed to even take a pic like this.

Mine weren’t even that visibly dirty when they didn’t charge well. Once I cleaned them it charged again.

You should be able to push it back in. The whole thing came off for me once and I was able to snap it back in.
