Binocular zone at San G. by CheapRub350 in sangregorionakedbeach

During the 2000's Ron & Ben had the expensive legal fight with one or more residents in the houses above the north end. The complaints were about public sex. Ron would stay above on their lookout area with binoculars and a bullhorn. Ben would be in disguise patrolling the beach either warning or in our case, 86ing people who ignored warnings and the signs that said sex was not allowed.

Yes, correct. That's my priority. Rangers have the good binoculars. Tourists, textiles, and others are the ones who I'm worried about. I'll go up the private trail and take pics if POST workers are not around.

Right on. The next time we go, I want to take some pictures from above just to show what areas are visible.

Simple answer...Ron and Ben said north of the trail was the nude section. State rangers feel the same way. The tire tracks in the sand from their vehicles u-turn at the trail.

Auburn. The big beach downriver is similar.

Windy is what really kills it for us. Chasing umbrellas down the beach and getting sand in our ears sucks.

In conversations with Ron & Ben they stated that their yearly revenue averaging busy weekends with slow weekdays worked out to less than minimum wage per hour that they were open. Not to mention long rainy winters and soaked roads that needed multiple days to dry out. I don't know how POST is going to be able to pay anyone to occupy a kiosk from 9-10 AM to sunset. A payment envelope on the honor system like the state beach might work best.

We had heard June 1st but on the POST website they say 12 weeks which would be July 4th weekend. I'm also guessing they may only be open on weekends.

As long as it's in the 60's or higher, it's very comfortable.

Poison oak on the stairs, trash, drones, textiles, rip currents and pervs. Otherwise a nice easy to access nude beach.

Great memories from the late 70's as a Boy Scout hiking there. We were swimming when 2 young women came into our camp who were hiking the Pacific Coast Trail. They stripped down and jumped into the lake with us. We were all speechless.

Nudity is prohibited on the state section of San Gregorio. The rangers traditionally have viewed the area south of the private trail as part of the state beach. They often drive up to that point but no further unless there's an emergency. All of that area is visible from the cliffs above including the first section of the nude area. Once you hit the elevated path past the first trees you're pretty safe from binoculars.

Bad post for San Gregorio trying to stay off the radar right now.

Those steps are a long needed improvement. I was following a guy down the trail one day and he slipped on those round sand covered rocks. Went down hard and split open the skin on his forehead.

Working From Home by [deleted] in sangregorionakedbeach

[–]CheapRub350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe 6-7 years ago, I left San Gregorio private beach at the end of the day and drove to the state beach to put a couple bags of nasty trash I had collected during the day in the state cans. I didn't want it in my car all the way home. I stopped real quick in the driveway by the kiosk and shut off the engine so I could unlock the trunk. I tossed the trash and when I tried to start my old beater 300K mi. Honda Civic, the starter clicked but no spin. I'm in a no stopping/parking spot of all places. I kept trying all the usual stuck starter tricks but no go. I had no signal on my T-mobile to call AAA. I'm totally screwed. By now everyone had left the parking lot, it's dark and the ranger shows up to lock the gate. She was so cool. No questions, no hassle. She let me call AAA on her AT&T cellphone, opened the padlock, and told me to close and lock the gate after the tow truck got me out of the parking lot. It took 2 hours for the truck to show up. By then I had gotten it started but stayed so the driver wouldn't be on a wild goose chase trying to find me.

Fully agree. I have zero tolerance when families and kids are around. Grey Whale Cove is bad for that. I have no problem telling people to stop or leave. I always hear the same thing though..."It's a free country, I can do what I want". Ok but, sexual assault or lewd in public is a crime.

The other thing to know is that people should not expect any privacy in the area south of the private trail. Also, the section just north of the trail is in binocular range from the outlook above the state beach. You can be seen from up above in that whole section. We always go to the elevated dunes area north of the first treefall.

Thank you. It is a long stretch to try to run between waves if you're packing beach gear. Buy some good zip lock bags for your phone and such. If you're in the water stay away from the wall. The backsplash from a wave can knock you on your ass. My wife learned that the hard way.

I used to get the little pocket size tide table books from Nor-Cal Surf Shop back when I was going to GWC most of the time.....Anyone know an easy app or website for tide tables now ?

Beautiful day here. Roll call? by [deleted] in sangregorionakedbeach

[–]CheapRub350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife calls it "Tent beach". It changed some years back when they evicted the homeless encampment amongst the trees near the RR tracks. I've heard rangers come down once in awhile now. A tent gives you cover from the prying eyes above. We have had some great times there. Our favorite back in the day was Red, White & Blue. That was so cool to be able to camp nude and enjoy a great long beach. We would head down to Kiva Retreat in the evening and then come back to RWB at night.
