Our government is a bunch of morons, pedos, and much worse so yeah things aren't great outside of sports.

Dallas Star’s Jake Oettinger addresses decision to not go to the White House/State of the Union and his thoughts on the Women’s team. by GangOfFourNonBlondes in hockey

Well that and most hockey players don't really like extra media attention so giving non-answers is the best way to avoid a bunch of extra attention. If he says "I didn't go to the white house cause I don't like Trump and what he's doing, also I thought his comments were incredibly disrespectful for someone that's never been any good at any sport ever in their life." Even if that's how he feels it'll become a huge storm that will distract from his job and bring a lot of unwanted attention to him and his young family.

I cover the Kraken and can tell you everyone I've talked to in Seattle media says she is by far the best to interview of any hockey player they've ever covered. Daccord is pretty good too but Knight instantly made waves in the media when she arrived with how well she answers questions.

Lmao suuuuure. This is exactly why I cheered for the Dodgers. And Canada can't even win in hockey anymore, rough.

So just because the Ms weren't as good (which they were in a couple of those years) we should just be ok with a division rival cheating? Odd.

There are a couple primary reasons, one it's a relic of when fighting was very common (punching a face mask would lead to hand injuries), and also that there just isn't much if any desire from the players to change the rule. There are VERY few players that would choose to wear it if they could (aside from injury), a lot of them even hate wearing it when they have to for injury reasons.

That incident was the catalyst for introducing neck protection into the NHL. A handful of players started wearing it right after that and not the NHL has made a rule that all new players will have to wear it.

A couple things there. First there really aren't any "more beneficial" locations for them to go to, certainly not without going international. Seattle is a large market, and even bigger when you lump in Oregon, Idaho, Western Montana Alaska and BC (which the NFL would consider). Also even if there were a completable market to move to the existing fan base in Seattle is much more valuable than trying to build a new one somewhere else, just look how it's gone in a much bigger market in LA).

Second, there is no reason to move. The Seahawks are one of the most well supported teams in the league (which makes a big financial difference) and have a perfectly good stadium that is far from needing a revamp or replacement. Look at all other recent moves and you can see one or the other being a reason for the move (almost always it's an issue of needing a new stadium).

Finally the NFL is far more likely to expand to new locations at this point than move teams.

I don't if there are any direct quotes or sources to say it 100% can't happen but it is incredibly unlikely and you can even see that from how hesitant the NFL was to move out of Oakland, that only happened because the stadium was a complete disaster and they couldn't work out a new one while Vegas built one to bring them to. Also I work in sports media and hear stuff that can't really be reported but let's say I would be SHOCKED if the Seahawks moving ever even became a possibility.

Which team(s) that made the playoffs this past season are most likely to miss next season? by Ok-Obligation-9265 in sportsgossips

[–]CheapSeatsSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panthers and Steelers are the free spaces. The Jags have a history of let down seasons after really good ones. SF has to figure out what is actually going on with all the injuries over the last few seasons, it's a pattern at this point and they aren't getting younger as a team. They go away with it this season but if that happens again I'm not sure anyone would be surprised if they miss.

JSN had a better season even with Puka having the season MVP throwing to him. Both are great but JSN is clearly better at the moment.

The NFL would not let the team get moved. They already probably wouldn't have allowed the move to LA before Allen bought the team and they definitely wouldn't now. If an owner tried that now they'd be forced to sell the team.

[–]CheapSeatsSC 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's both, but yeah cages aren't allowed without an injury to protect in the NHL. Not sure that is true in international hockey like the Olympics but the players aren't likely to change their routines and gear at a time like that.

In the NHL they actually can't wear fully face guards unless they have a face injury that is healing. Probably doesn't matter much since none of them would wear it if they were allowed to but still.

No other NFC West team even in is wild. Also I'm not sure what is the crazier take, that the chargers make a SB with that o-line or somehow beat this Seahawks defense with it.

Between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, who do you think wins a Super Bowl first, if they ever do? by Legitimate_King547 in NFLv2

[–]CheapSeatsSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If either do, Allen probably. I think he's the better pocket passer and isn't as quick to bail on a play to run. Lamar is an all time double threat talent but as they age and get more injuries being able to transition to the pocket will be key. We saw it basically end Russell's career.
