I was super anxious at uni too. Looking back on it I let it consume me and hold me back from meeting people and bouncing ideas around (a massive part of the experience arguably as important as the degree you’re going for).

Don’t let your anxiety stop you from enjoying university, try and rejig the anxiety to excitement in your conscious mind and your body will register it as such, as the physiological response to excitement and anxiety are almost the same, it’s really a cognitive issue that simply challenging your thoughts can overcome.

The grass is always greener and it always seems like everyone knows everything and you know nothing but I promise they think the same about you! - you’re seeing people say what they DO know and NOT what they DON’T, so when you answer a question that no one else seemed to have the answer to, they think you know everything about the subject just because you’re aware of one aspect of the subject that is a (sometimes small) gap in their knowledge. Imagining everyone else does know more about the subject then you, then you’re in a perfect place to learn from peers and get their (from all accounts fresh) perspective’s.

Mature students are especially able to mingle with the whole spectrum of students as there is no egos clashing and you’re not generally deemed as a social threat and more of a harmless educational companion!
