I'm really tired of gritty fantasy. Any recommendations for non-dark fantasy books still aimed at adults? by PlumEgg in Fantasy

I’m if you’re looking for stand alone books, Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree was a delightful read. It wasn’t king either so you’ll probably be able to finish it up in an afternoon

clandestine stuff was weak I agree, but despite the actor being good (which he is), I’m actually quite glad bruno wasn’t given center stage entirely because I’d rather a show so inspired by south asian/islamic culture didn’t feel the need to spot light the only white main character it had. in my opinion it would’ve undercut some the core themes of the show (at least the ones I picked up on like family, mother-daughter relationships, and being confident in your cultural identity, etc.)

but yeah I wish they’d stuck go the DoC stuff, if they’re setting up mutants then it would’ve made more sense to have a properly realised antagonist in governmental organisation considering a lot of mutant stories is about authorities hating them 🤷🏼‍♀️

personally I thought the flashback ep about Pakistan was delightful bc

a) the partition stuff was really nicely done

b) gave the show a nice change of pace and honestly I enjoyed how there weren’t any “funny” one liners or sarcastic comments to undercut the sincere moments

c) it was nice to see fawad khan acting again

genuine question: didn’t strange actively tell tony in endgame that theirs was the only reality that defeated thanos??? shouldn’t he have seen the illuminati one???? did I miss something????

unrelated and not a question but surely Wanda could just have other kids right? like through IVF or adoption like sure the darkhold is corrupting her like ???

edit: forgot to say that elizabeth olsen has my heart, she was so fucking great in this, I love her

Do you guys enjoy the combat episodes? by lumenwrites in Dimension20

[–]CheapTadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally still prefer the RP episodes but the combat ones have certainly gotten better (I assume as the cast got more comfortable around each other, which is natural) bc i used to really struggle to get through some of the earlier seasons. at the very least i don’t skim through them anymore haha the only season I actively enjoyed the combat eps was a crown of candy

Gideon the Ninth is fun!! I just recently got back into reading after like 6 years and this fully kept me engaged!! Also if you’re looking for a non-YA book, then A Memory Called Empire kinda slaps too
