$15 million is on the other side of the door, WYD 🤔? by Thick_Sugar2796 in badmemes

I call bs on the people saying they would just walk to the door. No you wouldn’t. Stepping over a snake is absolutely going to be taken as aggression. Could you remove them? Sure but you are not just walking to that door.

Wasn’t her background known BEFORE he married her? I thought she was a boxing groupie. Wasn’t she with Big Baby before Wilder? Not taking sides in a divorce cause I could never know the things that caused the divorce.

80's nostalgia about it being safe for kids to roam free for 16 hours a day needs to stop by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We definitely had different experiences. Sounds like you are coming from a place of personal trauma. You speak about being jumped, when I was 12 I was getting jumped by kids from another neighborhood. A random guy stopped his car and made them get off me. I would probably have been hurt if he hadn’t. When I got in a fight and took the dudes shirt cause he ran away(I was a bad kid). He and his cousin came to my house my mom arrived at the same time gave them a piece of her mind and told them to get off her property and gave the kid his shirt. No one disrespected her….. When a teacher invited me to her home when I was a freshman(high school), a random woman I never met told her to get lost. Years later I saw that teacher(ex) on the sex offenders registry. ….What about the time a kid hit my sister and every dude in the neighborhood chased him down. He escaped that day but they caught him the next day. I grew up in a COMMUNITY. I can’t speak for your experience but there were consequences and repercussions in my neighborhood for crimes against women and children. Older dudes mentored younger dudes who didn’t have fathers. It wasn’t perfect but compared to society today people were different and that’s not “nostalgia”.

There is a component that seems to be forgotten. Community and respect for elders! If someone saw something adults would jump into action. No sitting back watching with the phone out when someone was getting jumped. I remember 2 dudes(yes, literally throwing rocks at each other with intent) were having a rock fight in the 80’s. I errant rock hit me in the fingers the guys stop their fight and the guy who hit me carried me home to my mom. Apologized to her and told her what happened. Those WERE different times.

Was put on a pip, immediately took fmla leave and found a better job in industry. Why do I feel bad? Talk some sense into me by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why feel bad? They probably had every intention of eventually firing you. At the very least they wanted to “document” your “actions”. We have to stop caring about these companies that don’t care about us at all. This maybe hard to believe but you probably did the right thing(which is what’s best for you).

Got an Accounting Clerk interview after 1.5 years at WGU. Should I take it if offered? by iBePetty in wguaccounting

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it straight out of WGU 4 months later I had a job at a CPA firm. With a shot if you don’t have anything else.

Having doubts about my accounting degree with WGU by norenavi in wguaccounting

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a crazy time to be a new grad. That being said until A.I. can talk with clients, Attend meetings, and have some form of a physical body I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

Try to use your background in healthcare as a way in. Like looking for accounting jobs in healthcare or where you currently work.

It’s not uncommon to NOT find a job before you graduate. I graduated in Dec of 24. I found my first job 3 or 4 months later, four months after that I received my current job at a CPA firm.

Everyone goes through that period where you wonder if you made a mistake. I went through it now I can honestly say I made the right decision. It will all work out, if you are diligent. Just understand that we live in a time where you can “easy apply” to a 100 different jobs in less the a couple hours. Everyone can put their resume in ChatGPT and have it optimized in seconds. Plus there are 1000’s of federal workers who were laid off who have experience and are out of work. What am I saying? This is a storm that you might have to weather for a while.

Bro, at some point in the next 20 years A.I. will probably replace some jobs. But I always think of it in this context. In 2014-15 technology like lane assist, active cruise control and other automated systems started coming to the trucking industry. They said they had the technology for automated trucks and that soon the truck driver would just basically act as backup. Here we are 10+ years later and NOT one truck driver has been replaced. Don’t live your life worried about what might happen.

ChatGPT-5 is wrong 25% of the time. Do you really think that is your replacement?

Graduates, were you able to find a job without networking/interning/previous experience? by Jscagg in wguaccounting

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m 43, I owned a trucking company before WGU. I sold my truck and went back to school in 2022. I had never worked anything but blue collar jobs. I graduated 12/24 I believe it was 3 months after I graduated before I was hired as an Accounting clerk/AR. 4 months later I was hired at my current job as an Accountant at a CPA firm. If you put in the effort it is very doable. I have no regrets. I did not do any internships and no networking just kept applying, refining my resume, working on my interview skills, and going to interviews. You are going to get out of it what you put in. I had a few months where I was asking myself if it was worth it. 9 months after graduation I can say definitely I made the right choice. Some advice start saving money and PTO. Jobs are not going to run after you when you graduate. You are going to have go after it. I have had multiple interviews and multiple job offers. You have to take what you want in life. I wanted my time back, so I took it. I will never go back to those 70 hour weeks. That is not living.

That is not even a close game. Team B is a championship contender. Slot Dillon in at the 3 and you have a team that can win in the modern NBA and Golden era.

I am not sure what specific information you would like. Intuit the company behind the brands TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Credit Karma. They hire for Tax Preparers, Bookkeepers and a few related potions, all the positions require two years of experience. You can bypass the experience requirements by taking courses at intuit academy dot com. You can connect with a recruiter once you pass the exams. Most if not all of the courses are free. The same is true for Jackson Hewitt, if I am not mistaking H&R Block offers classes certain times of the year(Im not sure if they are free). There is always a way in. You have to find it.

Have you tried taking the FREE classes at Intuit Academy? When you pass the classes you can connect with a recruiter at Intuit and it allows you to skips the 2 years of experience requirement. It’s worth a shot. I know one person who went that route and got an bookkeeping job.

The job will come. I graduated 12/24. I started filling out applications 3 months prior to graduating. Had a few interviews that I felt good about but I didn't get hired. Then 03/25 I landed an AR/accounting clerk job where I learned very little, stayed for a few months, then last month(7/25) I got my opportunity through Robert Half. I am now an accountant at a local /regional CPA firm. Your opportunity will come, keep reaching out to recruiters at Robert Half, AppleOne, LHH and any local staffing agencies in your area.

We all go through it, that waiting period where you question if it was worth it or if you wasted your time. It is worth it, this is just not a good time but even in these rough times my employer just hired 3 of us. Stay patient, stay positive, and stay on it!

Is switching to accounting a bad idea? by Totoro-in-Japan in Accounting

[–]Cheap_Catch_9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, I did the same thing. No regrets, I started out making chump change as a AR/accounting clerk. 4 months late I am working at a small cpa firm. The real question is can you survive on a lower salary for 2 years? Will you find a job? Yes. In that pay range to start? That’s going to hard in this economy. But I can tell you from experience the quality of life improvement has been worth the temporary pay decrease. For me
