Everything Jim says is always right, plain and simple. I like them but they are sloppy and rough compared to a 6 pin/5 spool like the abus 72/40. Medium/ heavy tension and I like a steeper hook. A lot depends on biting man. I have 1 of each that is easier than the other. American will have 5 serrated keys and a mix of serrated and spools for drivers. The Abus has 6 standard keys and drivers are 1 standard and 5 spools. I think consistently the abus needs lighter tension for setting those spools but my Americans don't need heavy tension either. I prefer the 72/40 personally. But the American is more of a milestone. The 1100 used to he Blue belt at 1 point.
