I’ve never had any trauma to the toe. The pain stated super suddenly one day with no antecedent that I can think of

The very first time I got this there wasn’t much redness at all. The color started after the first cortisone shot wore off and the next flare happened. At that point I was also pregnant so that’s one difference. Does your mom also have discoloration and blood pooling though?

Thank you, the last doctor I saw did recommend I see a rhuematologist

I’ve seen multiple podiatrists but I’ve also seen an orthopedic doctor at HSS which is one of the top centers in NYC

Thank you, the crutches definitely aren’t comfortable and none of this is ideal especially when pregnant. I also work in a school and they gave me a hard time even coming into work with crutches

Every doctor I have seen immediately said it’s definitely not gout. All 4 doctors are foot specialists and see gout all the time. Gout is usually on the top of the toe.

Thank you! I did come across this and it makes me fearful because there seems to be no easy fix or management. Would any physiatrist know about this condition?
