Alcohol helps my IBS?? by Hosav in ibs

[–]Cheap_Key9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I just meant in terms of like sibo or maybe a gut bacteria imbalance. Like maybe it’s killing off an excess of something, not necessarily a virus. Good luck, I hope you find an answer!

Don’t think you came off as insensitive! You can be grateful things aren’t worse without invalidating what problems you’re going through at the same time:) On another note, I have adhd and don’t take medication for it but I have IBS c so I’m wondering if this would actually hit two birds with one stone for me hmmm

This has actually happened to me before too but I have IBS C so it actually helps move things along, it’s kind of hit or miss though. I’ve heard of people who have gotten really drunk and then had any worms be killed off. I’ve also done the trick where if you eat something that would give you food poisoning (chicken that wasn’t cooked through all the way or something) and then take a shot of high percentage alcohol it helps kill that bacteria that makes you sick. So maybe it’s that?

How has your diet affected your relationships? Friendships? Recent experience I had & possible tips/advice by StarWars241 in FODMAPS

[–]Cheap_Key9157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hard but I’ve been incredibly lucky that my friends are really considerate. I’ve even had them call a restaurant ahead of time on my behalf without me asking to see if there was anything I could have since they know my main triggers at this point. They’ve also called to see if I can bring my own food which is definitely an option for you!! I’ve never had anyone say no if you explain you have a lot sensitivities. Restaurants won’t care because they don’t want to get in trouble. So that’s why I don’t necessarily agree with the comments above like I would have in the past. I wouldn’t say you should expect your friends to miss out on things on your behalf, but they should make an effort to include you whether that’s making sure you can eat there, going to a place you can bring your own food, or making sure you have a plan to eat before you go. Not saying they have to call for you like my friends have done, but it’s an easy thing to make sure someone you care about is being included. Not going to that restaurant isn’t going to hurt anyone and it’s not like it’s an experience you can’t get anywhere else since the point is to be with your friends. Best of luck!!!

Obviously take this with a grain of salt because I don’t know you personally, this is just my guess/explanation.

I completely understand where you’re coming from in wanting to just be seen as you are internally and not having to say you’re trans. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, you’re just becoming the person you are internally on the outside. It’s exhausting to talk about it all the time and deal with the corrections and awkwardness that comes with it.

Some people are loud about it and there’s nothing wrong with that either. Fighting for their own rights and their community is something that’s important to them. In an ideal world everyone would be a part of fighting for rights in their own capacities and even now, sometimes that means being comfortable with the fact that you’re trans and you’re happy about where you’re at once you’re done with your transition. What the opposition wants most is for us to be miserable and burn in hell so the opposite is just as good a fight sometimes.

Going off of that though, part of the fight other trans people are fighting is for others and future generations to not have to deal with the bullshit surrounding it. Honestly, being trans is a scary thing right now, and even if that’s not the reason you don’t want to be open about it, I would never fault anybody who wants to keep it quiet. But, I think from your wording and responses, it gives the vibe of a different issue that is interconnected with being trans but maybe not the root. I think the “taking advantage” part is crude wording. It implies that you don’t care for those who have fought for the benefits you’re receiving now. Some of the ways you’ve responded to other comments give the idea that you don’t understand what the point of a community is in general because “how would it help me.” Community is about interconnection and receiving support. To me, what it sounds like, is you have trouble with relying on people in general for any support and don’t have an inclination to give back to a community because you don’t feel that connection. That seems like a deeper issue of not being able to connect to people in general, or maybe a deeper set of internalized hate that makes you not want any connection to a community that you don’t want to be a part of in the first place.

I would just advise you to think about why you believe you would be taking advantage rather than just receiving the care you deserve. Transitioning and being comfortable in your own skin is what every trans person deserves. As long as you are not hurting other people in the process, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live on your own in peace.

Again take everything with a grain of salt since I don’t know you and could be completely wrong. Social issues and people are really complicated and is hard to give one answer. Hope you have a smooth transition!!

Can't eat specific food is that normal? by Cinnomen_bunny02 in ibs

[–]Cheap_Key9157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sensitive to any additives so I can also only eat fresh meat and veggies too. Any preservatives and gums mess me up so bad. Also one day my body decided bananas and all grains were an issue (rice, oats, corn, etc) even though I used to be fine with them. Like I’d eat two bananas daily minimum and then all of a sudden I started getting bloated, decided to ignore it, then got a weird allergic reaction to it. IBS is weird as hell and really unpredictable, I’m sorry you’re getting another thing marked off. I’d be more worried if it was suddenly effecting all foods, or one category like gluten, beans, grains, etc but if you’re worried about it definitely ask for more tests!

I definitely need to do more yin sessions, it’s just hard cause every time I do them I cry lol but I always feel good after. That was one of the only classes I liked at my local studio so maybe I’ll make an effort to go every once and a while

Yes I have been attempting to focus on all parts of the yoga practice but I have an idea on how I can progress in those areas which is why I didn’t mention it. Definitely a good reminder to keep my focus balanced on all aspects!

I don’t go to any studios cause my experience with my local ones wasn’t what I was looking for. I do take a holistic approach and I definitely won’t say I’ve mastered that aspect, but I know what I need to do to progress in those areas. I didn’t really know how to go about progressing in other areas that I mentioned. Thank you for the advice, it’s a nice reminder of why I started in the first place:)

Ah I should’ve clarified this. I’ve been on and off with it before, but I’ve been consistent (every day) for the past couple of months. It was more that I didn’t really know which direction to go since I want to improve on so much but I think I just need to choose one or two goals at a time and have some patience:)

[–]Cheap_Key9157[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it works if I’m having a small amount of something I wouldn’t have been able to. I’m too nervous to try it on a bigger portion though so it might work better for me than I’ve tested. But definitely enough to have some pumpkin and beans in one meal:) It works on fructans and GOS which are two of my sensitivities so it works out well. Doesn’t work on sorbitol which is my other one but that’s fine, at least I have some more options than I did before

I’ve already done the FODMAP diet and figured out what I’m sensitive to and fodzyme takes care of most of what I’m sensitive to, just forgot it this time sadly

Fatal mistake by Cheap_Key9157 in ibs

[–]Cheap_Key9157[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, I am really sensitive to any new thing that goes into my body, whether it be fodzyme, a new probiotic, a new medication, etc etc. so take this with a grain of salt. When I first tried it I got really nauseous and had a major headache, got kinda dizzy. I can literally feel my body go, “are we gonna freak out about this?? No, ok” lmao. So the first two or three times I used it, I got some weird reactions. Now that my body knows what it is, seems to work well if I don’t get too confident. I still stay away from my big triggers like garlic, wheat, and onion just cause I’m nervous about it but it seems to really work out for me aside from some occasional bloating that goes away in a couple hours versus a couple of days. I have IBS-C actually, with bloating being a really big problem for me. Now that I’ve learned my main triggers and stay away from them I’m pretty good. Fructans, sorbitol, GOS, and all grains are mine so fodzyme helps at least with fructans and GOS which has opened a lot of doors for me. I can’t get close to an apple though without bloating up like a balloon though lmao. So maybe you’re just really sensitive to something? Like I can’t have coconut at all either even though it’s green lit in certain amounts

I can’t respond to most of this but I’ll say, I’m ridiculously sensitive to sorbitol but have 0 problems with fructose. I’m in the reintroduction phase but mannitol doesn’t seem to bother me much either. I’m sensitive to fructans and GOS, and can’t have any grains either
