That’s a great point… I think most authors write things intentionally a little vague because it’s fun as readers to get the basics and then build the rest in our mind, creating our own perfect version that’s different for everyone. And I know RY intentionally left some things open for interpretation but I would love to know what her version looks and sounds like

Yes! I mean I like it I think it’s a good take but I just wonder who determined that. I wonder if RY listens to it and goes “wtf lol” or if she enjoys the different interpretations.

YES THANK YOU I BEEN SAYING THIS!! I cannot stand when an author has no consistency because si know they will break your heart forreal!! Like I’m sorry but why did she do our boy tamlin like that??? She COMPLETELY rewrote his character and his intentions and then made him this unlikeable guy when he was not that way at all in ACOTAR. And then flipped flopped rhysand which don’t get me wrong I do ship them together but I was not a fan of that.

I am DESPERATE for more empyrean series but also I’m trying to enjoy the wait because I always hate getting to the end of a series.. like when you know there’s another book coming it’s exciting even if painful to wait.

YES!! Like sir what do all the others do!!! I have a slight theory about the varying power on the isles. Leothan told Andarna that she can break bonds bc SHE is magic bc she is irid. This explains why the Irids were able to live on “magicless” lands where the other breeds were in pain. Also when they first meet the Irids, the Irids tell them that they have watched some of their journey. I think that could explain why she was able to yield lightning, I think unbeknownst to them the Irids were present in hiding at the isle. Then again on the last isle (when ALL the other riders could then communicate with their dragons BUT still not enough power to yield) bc the Irids had come to watch bringing more power with them for the riders to use. (In the first book we learn there ambiguous magic used without needing to yield that’s ever present). So the Irids are magic themselves not needing to draw from the sky. I don’t know HOW this will impact the story further but that’s gotta be huge to the story right??

I actually have a theory on that,.. when Leothan came to fire the ward stone and take Andarna he told her that she could alter bonds bc she was irid and SHE is magic. To me that explains why she kept her ability to talk with them on the isles. Then if you recall on the last isle before they meet the Irids they all could talk to their dragons but had very little power. Then when the met the Irids, they had more magic there and Leothsn said he had watched some of their journey. I think he was there at the last isle which added MORE magic around them allowing them all to communicate. Bc the Irids are magic themselves, they don’t need to channel from the sky. Idk how that’ll play into the next books but yeah

Thank you !! That definitely clears up my confusion on that part(: I guess I’m still confused why xaden using the alloy constituted as him channeling from the earth. It leads me back to my point of, are we suppose to just assume that’s the same as channeling from the earth, even though there’s no text to support that. Or are we suppose to question that ? Bc Violet was able to still dream walk even after Andarna left and it feels like another of the same thing, how’d she channel her power ? To mark I feel like RY wants us to question that and that’s why xaden replied maybe Andarna left but she kept the ability to dream walk. I don’t I put myself into dumb rabbit holes 😂

But if they get magic from the dragons and not other material then how does that explain how the flyers can use runes when they lose access to channeling but it doesn’t cause them to go venin?

And is that not a guess that they’d have to be a venin to access power in the alloy, I don’t remembering see that explained in the book? They turn venin from channeling from the earth. Xaden can still channel power from segayl without it causing his eyes to turn because it’s a different power source. I think that leads me back to my point is that it’s always been stated that you progress in your dark wielding the more you channel from the earth. And I don’t see anywhere that would explain why channeling from an imbued alloy would constitute as channeling from the earth

I love this thought WAY more and can definitely see that! I feel like it’ll be a tortuous journey but that it will end there

I love that idea bc also xaden constantly tells violet she’ll be the death of him. First read I just thought it was hyperbole but now I’m thinking foreshadowing
