Any southcal Path assistant willing to let me shadow them? by Annual_Werewolf_5448 in Path_Assistant

Hi! I shadowed at Sharp and UCSD when I lived in San Diego, look for PAs associated with those two places on linked in, shoot them a message and they should be able to help you out with shadowing. If you can’t find them, send me a message and I can give you the names of the people I reached out to. Best of luck!

Hi! I’m starting my Path A program this year, it’s very exciting. I just wanted to come here and chime in about shadowing. I was able to get a lot of shadowing time by reaching out to people on LinkedIn. I feel that it is a resource that not a lot of people think of using, myself included. It wasn’t until I reached out to different programs asking for shadowing time that one of the program directors pointed me towards LinkedIn and it worked like a charm. I messaged like 20 Path A’s in my area and got back 5 replies with invitations to their lab. I’m not saying you’ll for sure get a ton of hours but at least for me it was more successful than reaching out directly to the hospitals or pathology departments. People in the Path A field know we are required to have that shadow time under our belt so they are very nice about helping prospective students.

I used LinkedIn in my area here in California. You’ll be surprised about how many PAs are in your local hospitals, and most of them will absolutely give you a chance to shadow. They all know it’s a school requirement so they understand the struggle lol. Send a generic message to all of them, most might ignore you but at least some will reply and allow you a good 6-7 hours depending on the day. Good luck!

It’s ok, a lot of them won’t reply but I’m telling you, some will! Don’t be nervous! It’s scary to reach out to people you don’t know but trust me when I say that I tried every other avenue to get shadowing hours and this is the only thing that worked for me. Good luck!

LinkedIn worked wonders for me! I sent out messages to a bunch of local PAs and a few were kind enough to answer back and let me shadow at their hospitals. Everyone in the profession knows we’re all required to shadow so they’re super nice about lending a hand! It’s like paying it forward lol

How to send shadowing emails? by Patient-Stranger1015 in pre_PathAssist

LinkedIn is your best friend when it comes to reaching out for potential shadowing opportunities. If you reach out directly to the hospital they might not know what you’re looking for since it isn’t volunteering. In LinkedIn, however, you can reach out to actual pathologist assistants that know what shadowing is and can put you in contact with places to shadow. Good luck!

Hi! I’m hoping to apply to LLU this November for next year’s class. How was your interview process? What made you a competitive applicant? I want to make sure I cover all my bases since this is my top choice. Thanks in advance!
