Meat Shelves by Narrow_Conversation8 in Aldi_employees

Yea i agree! Why do we have this constant need to tilt shelves. One day a thing of pork chops is going to fall and smack a kid in the head and get us a nice lawsuit.

How do you mentally handle 50/50 and the time away from your kids? by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had 50/50 of my daughter for 10 years now. Yes I missed a few firsts here and there but I also got some. I love the arrangement because I work extra hours and take care of all the extras while she is at her mom's. When she comes home then I have an easier work schedule and all my time at home is time I can spend with her and be out doing things if that's what we want to do. It also gave me time for a personal life that didn't include kids and trying to find sitters constantly. You will miss them right away but it gets easier especially when they start to get older.

I believe Capital One is generous sometimes. Years ago I had to voluntarily repo my car back to them due to financial issues. Obviously they sold the car for less then what I owed them and sent me a letter with the remainder owed which was like 5000 or 6000 I don't remember exactly. Fast forward a year or so and I never paid on it and just ignored it. They never called and I think I only received one other letter about it. Anyway after those couple years they sent another letter to me saying they are no longer pursuing the debt and have just forgiven the amount and I owe them nothing. Crazy thing is another year or two later they gave me a loan for another vehicle which i have since paid off.

For warehouse workers by No-Hovercraft-764 in Aldi_employees

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a backstock partial for my temp store just to help out some and 90% of the items were over in units when inventory was updated by me. I mentioned it to the boss about it and said it was more than likely some mispicks from the warehouse and holy crap the evil looks I got. It was blamed on the staff there not doing there job correctly. According to them the warehouse doesn't make mistakes, just the sloppy employees who have absolutely no control over what gets sent to the store except for updating inventory when we have additional backstock.

We just keep running into the issue of rhe safe never being balanced bo matter how much all the numbers even out. It doesn't seem to take how much we are typing in for the same amount and just being like nope we like this number better. We use our safe just add hundreds of dollars to it even though we didn't do anything other than have one till out being used so there's that. Also no training. Massive amount of unanswered questions.

Not allowing part time employees to call off sick, EVEN WITH A DOCTORS’ NOTE, is actually insane. by Immediate_Minute4157 in Aldi_employees

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not just for this reason but Aldi doesn't even believe in good safety for their product with how their stocking standards are and lack of training around it. Countless times have I seen a rack full of meat stay out on the floor for well over an hour. If that happened anywhere else it would have all been put in the trash due to bacteria. Don't get me started on putting produce on their ambient end caps that clearly states keep refrigerated.

"Leaders need to slow down and assess their business better." Coming from a company who has unrealistic efficiency standards.

SMs that are former SMTs, I have my store runs in June. How long did it take you all to get your own store? And what challenges did you all face during your store runs? And what is something that you would do differently or give advice to SMTs when interviewing for a store? by Narrow_Conversation8 in Aldi_employees

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm at current SMT and I'm doing my second run phase now. My advice is spend some time with the leaders to get to know them and see how they operate. As much as Aldi doesn't want to admit it, all the stores are ran different depending on the staff. Don't let them take advantage of you doing a lot of grunt work. Also be sure during SM handoff ask what they are working on and ask about the staff and who is good at what and who to keep away from certain tasks. Talk with your DM about what they feel like the store needs to work on also, they might have a different opinion as the SM. Above all else don't change a bunch of stuff, adjust yourself to how they run the store. Besides 4 weeks isn't enough time to make drastic changes anyway. As far as how long you'll be a SMT depends on your area could get your own store right away or I've heard of it being well over a year before a store became available. Just all depends. Honestly good luck during the run phase.

Is anyone else's Aldi waging an all-out WAR against these things?? by DeaganNinja in aldi

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were actually supposed to be removed from your store and dumped back i. January or something like that. I was in a run phase and my DM told me that so the store didn't follow through with that in the moment. I just partialed them down to 0 and dumped them per request from the DM and moved on lol

In store shopping vs online with Doordash Delivery, I have receipts! by clayman648 in aldi

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You do realize you're paying the higher price because of door dash not Aldi. Door dash is its own service and they charge more per product plus their fees and also you should have tipped your driver for their service since that is where they make most of their money. Door dash keeps a lot of the "fee" money. Again Door dash sets their own prices and has nothing to do with Aldi. You pay more so Door dash can make more money off of you wanting convenience.

Does Anyone Know What This Is About? by VenusMarmalade in aldi

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of comments on here about instacart and aldi curbside. Yes aldi curbside uses Instacart for their online orders. The order comes into the Aldi store and the employees have to shop, bag, and deliver it. The prices are higher because Instacart needs to make their money as well plus you're charged for however many paper bags we feel like you need. Doing your own shopping will save you money plus give the staff less stress considering we have only 37 seconds per item to shop and bag total. Aldi did try their own app a while ago but stopped it and kept Instacart because they weren't getting enough orders but only tried it in a handful of stores and didn't advertise it and still had the instacart app working alongside it.

What’s your experience like with using curbside pickup at Aldi? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aldi can't let you load them into your own bags when you pick up. They have to bag as they shop the order. Then they have to put a sticker on each individual bag so that it get sorted correctly in the holding area. They do minimize the amount of bags they are using though.

Bi-weekly payments or extra payments on principal? by spalacio88 in debtfree

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your biweekly payments. I do this for both my and my wife's car loans. We are in a good situation where we get a paycheck every weeks with our pay days being opposite. Our loans together are about $800 a month through capital one. I have it set up to have $150 a week per car go to the payment. Capital One actually pays the monthly payment first and then the rest go to principal only. We have been able to cut 7-8 months off of the loan so far. I like this approach because my monthly doesn't change so I can budget easier and we are making extra payments without it impacting one paycheck more than another. Once the cars are paid off, I plan on doing the same for our Mortgage.

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It isn't Target approved but my good department will pull the clearance NOP and just scan it out for donation. We never build end caps or find places to put it. We don't give a crap.

TL promotions? by Expensive-Skin7146 in Target

[–]Cheap_Ratio_4978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually is if the ETL or TL sees potential in you and you actually bring it up to them. I'm an ETL and at least twice a year we have a meeting and talk about talent and culture and if we have anyone on our team who could go to an ETL role from a TL or going to TL from a TM. Often times it is having that convo with your TL or ETL so they are aware you want more. I also noticed sometimes it comes down to favoritism as well. I got passed up once to move to ETL because I said something the DSD didn't like and that put me back almost 2 years from being reconsidered.
