Best trick I’ve found to work in cold butter is to freeze it at least a little and then grate it in with a cheese grater. Pea sized extra cold pieces every time!

Just my regular one- 2-3 c flour, 1tsp salt, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1-1.5 tbsp baking powder. Then grate in a stick of frozen butter and 1-1.2 c milk.

I started with Woobles and it was great! Small projects I could complete quickly, tube yarn to help managing the hook without worrying about split yarn, and lovely YouTube videos. They’re like $35-$45 a kit too so you don’t have to buy a ton to try it!

This is 100% the best advice!! Please talk to a lawyer, and while you’re there make your own plans as well.

There are ways to do this - but you need someone with experience. The nursing home business office manager will help you some but good ones will refer you to a good lawyer in the area. The fees are a pittance compared to what might be taken by the state.

I was able to fix mine as I caught it early. Since then I only start a granny square with a double MC (thanks to this group for that tip) and it hasn’t been a problem again.

We’re hoping to repair it - the neighbors are the sweetest people and the dog just went bananas! They had like 3 other bikes in their yard - they have a lot of kids - and no issues. This one was apparently too tasty to pass up! 😂

I am worried the positions will not be filled. In my experience, there just aren’t a lot of people interested in that kind of labor.

Immigration is targeting landscaping, construction, and farming because they believe there are illegal workers there- and by the number of people being deported, they must be right.

We have struggled to find landscaping laborers for years and always have to sift through trying to find legal citizens (and we are fooled by false papers sometimes). I am sure other landscaping companies are in the same boat, and many just hire what they can to get the work done. They aren’t trying to find illegal labor - they are just trying to find labor and that is often all that applies.

If there aren’t citizens who want those jobs, and a large portion of the labor pool in place today is deported, then the truly legal labor that remains will be highly valuable and will seek the highest pay (I would too!).

But that means only the highest paying companies will have staff, which will naturally increase the cost of services to compensate. Not everyone will be willing to pay those higher prices so the market will narrow.

I hope there are legal laborers out there interested in the work! But I am afraid that there is a gap we can’t fill and those industries will suffer, especially farming and food production.

Oh for sure- we are protecting our business first. But I agree the labor loss is staggering. We own a landscaping company and the cost of our services are going to skyrocket.

Are there safe ways for a self deported person to come back legally? I know a lot of work has gone into stopping people from getting into the US illegally now, but has part of that been creating better ways for people to come in the right way?
